BIG announcement coming next week! J
Within an hour hundreds of people had put up their best guesses on what it could be... maybe a launch date, a 360 Live demo, maybe news that Marcus will "have a neat little utility belt equipped with cup holders."
The only thing Rein's added to the discussion was this bit of further bafflement.
Maybe a Demo? Some people think not, because the game is so far away. There, however, is a possibility that we may hear about a new game mode or perhaps a more specific release date. The release date being announced as earlier than expected is unlikely because M$ is using this title as a strategic pawn in the holiday season.

maybe the world will be no more

although i doubt a demo, Lost Planet did a fine job of releasing a demo over half a year before the game comes out.

True True. That must be the earliest demo to game release ever.

July 24, 2006 - According to a an official release by MS today, Gears of War may be hitting store shelves as early as of September 2006. The release centered on Megadeth headlining Gigantour, a MS sponsored metal tour hopping across 25 major market venues from early September to mid-October 2006. While no concrete release date was cited, there were some curious comments by Craig Davison, Director of Global Games Marketing for Xbox.
"We're totally jazzed about the partnership between Gigantour 2006 and our forthcoming Xbox 360 blockbuster, 'Gears of War!'" says Davison. "Partnering a music extravaganza like GIGANTOUR with the launch of a mega-hit game like 'Gears of War' captures the excitement around two awesome happenings for fans of music and video games!" Launch? Does he mean Gears of War is launching at the start of, during, or at the end of Gigantour?

Ditto as regards to Lost Planet.
I deleted it and then just had to download it again.
You can see it's early code with the dodgy zoom effects and stuff but it's still incredible.

Lost Planet reminds me of Giants (IGN Link). Giants has the same type of creatures that come out of the ground and all that. 3rd person, etc. It was a fun ass game too, but I don't know, a lot of similarities. However, I still enjoyed the Lost Planet demo and will probably pick it up when it comes out.
