Microsoft's policy seems to be, loosely, to put out original games with beautiful graphics and sparkling concepts, with simple enough play and big enough budgets to qualify as entertainment first, videogames second. The queue of "Japan-friendly" games soon to release is now quite formidable: Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Project Sylph, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Cry On (Mist Walker and cavia's positively brilliant-sounding action/adventure/RPG with Katamari / Shadow of the Colossus-esque elements), and the Gundam FPS by Dimps all look like spectacular games with texture and value. An RPG about Chopin?  Interesting... great composer, but the basis for a videogame - something new anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  Looking forward to seeing how this pans out

Japan is interesting like that, they're into games about rolling balls around, irritating sticks, there's a game about the life of a bee, it's just a very different country. But if it sells consoles then that's a good thing. Remember if SquareEnix has more japan market share there is a good chance they'll put some more on our shores too. Maybe co-releases of FF anyone?

I think this generation we'll see more cross-platform games than ever because of the high costs of making the games, so they want to sell as many copies as possible to any systems.  Since MS already sold more than 6 millions 360 consoles, I hope the Japanese studios see this and bring more of their games to the 360.

Yeah, but don't forget it takes money to program the games for each platform too.
