Well the Prey demo has finally made it out onto the XBox Live Marketplace. Although it's a little over a week later than we expected, it's better late than never. Hop onto XBox Live and download it.

impressions and info would be great.
-
about freakin time *rushes out the door from work*
ill let you know in a bit
-
Sweeet. I'm grabbing it.
-
dling it now....let's hope it doesn't take 4 hrs...those live maintenence outages should be worth sumthin lol....
-
I played the pc demo... it's quite good.. you guys are in for a treat (assuming the 360 one is the same)
-
FINALLY FUCK YES!
-
almost done dling, less than a 1/2 hr on my 6meg connection...suhweet!
-
damn clear your HD's its a whopping 1.17GB
-
grabbing it now cant wait
-
Can't wait to see how it compares to the PC version!
EDIT: Incredibly fast download! Been downloading for about 2 minutes and I'm already on 10%!!!
-
only if we had that live anywhere i could queue the download to my 360. can't wait!
-
Very fast download on this. Full dl in just 20 minutes on 5meg Roadrunner
-
So far it's identical to it running on my PC in full. A slight issue with V-Sync catch up - better than shearing though, it does this on my PC and on my friends so I assume it's the game rather than any issue the 360 has

Edit: I do miss the resolution on my PC + it's gonna be cheaper. Also I think it may be because the game is set to run in 4:3 on a PC but on this as you look round you get that effect like when you stretch a 4:3 game like Halo to 16:9. It goes all kinda warped when you look left to right. A bit like tunnel vision. Hopefully this will be fixed by the time it comes out.
-
Grabbing right now. Only demo I'm currently waiting for is Chromehounds since everyone whose not in the US or canada has it on their 360's.
-
offtopic: just make a foreign hotmail account, and use that for another account on your 360. easy.
PREY RULES!!!!
-
isnt that kind of weird that everyone besides the us and canada get chromehounds? i cant wait tho its at 54% after a half hour i might just create another profile for japan or some shiznit like that just 2 get it even tho it ll be here in about a week or 2

Didn't like the chromehounds demo at all.
I'm also a massive fan of Steel Battallion and I always liked the armored core series which was FROM SOFTWARE (wonder if they're making an Otogi 3) as well. So it's not just a question of taste.
-
amb, if you need help setting up another xbl sliver account pm me, you can dl the chromehounds demo... i how ever thing it sucks =) any who pm if you need help
-
i have been looking forward to this game for ages & was under the impression this wouldnt have framerate problems! its worse than quake 4!!!
i have a high end PC so ill play that version instead but im gutted that i wont be able to enjoy this game from the sofa with a decent framerate

I have to agree.
Like I said above. At least it's cheaper on PC and it'll be a higher res.
-
Never knew about the foreign email thing... o_O
Grabbing that demo now
Sucks though how when I play online and the download pauses until I get offline... What am I to do while I wait!?
-
Agreed. Just played it and all the hype I was seeing was for nothing. This demo sucked.|
-
I dont know what you guys are talking about, this demo is freaking amazing!!! who knows, maybe its just my 76"
-
I can't download it. It sticks at 1% then just disappears from my download list!
Anybody know what's wrong?
-
feels like a ripoff of doom 3.......
-
2 games I played on live lagged horribly. I don't like the fact that you cannot reload. It's a pro and a con. But, the single player I loved the story line was pretty decent not for the indian things but it really caught me by surprise.
-
Game IMO doesn't compare at all to the PC graphics wise. The texures arent as good, AA looks to only be 2x, and the bumpmapping doesnt look as good. I think Ill stick to the PC version on this one.
-
There is no jerkyness it's in your head. In fact, I find it very smooth.
-
multiprey on 360=UNPLAYABLE!
-
damn.. it is going fast, but you guys are making me think its going to suck!
-
yeah multiplayer is disappointing, I can't even maintain a connection before it drops out. But maybe they'll work on it. I tried again and again play this demo and I can't find any studdering.
And you guys need to quit complaining. PC will have better detail since those games run higher than 1280x720. Of course, when you run at least 1280x1024.
I have no idea Grander. I see a bunch of nitpicky pricks in here. I like the demo. Gives me an eerie doom feel but better. It's what doom should of been.
-
Am I the only one that can't download this?
-
i'm downloading it now...no problems so far
-
i think its just becasue its locked at 30 fps, with v-sync. its deosnt go any higher. you are going to notice it alot more on larger screens
-
when i have my 360 connected via Svid to my monitor i dont have any issues, when i connect via componetnt/vga i get screen tear, im starting to think its our tv's guy's
-
dont even see how you can be pissed at this, its a great demo, yea it has a doom feel anyone wanna guess why?
its a demo so technical problems set aside I see this as being the next big thing. It boggles my mind with all the portals and gravity effects, its quite difficult to remember which way is down.
Im still on the fence whether Ill buy it or not, just dont have that much money
-
the demo in my mind is sweet and this is a must buy game. Again I played it though and I don't see the frame problem quake 4 had. Now even I know that had a problem. But, I just dont see it in this demo.
-
Played mp fine. I don't think its as sluggish as Doom or has framerate near as bad as quake4. I really like what I've played so far. I wouldn't buy it for the mp though. Not my style.
-
wow what a waste.. played it n the xbl sucks..lol...another freaking fps .. damn.. where r the platforms n shit.. 360 its going to be another fps system just like xbox.. this sucks..
-
Judging from the replies here, seems like my vanilla 6600 runs PREY even better than the xbox 360. That's stupid
-
Sorry I didn't read all the posts so some of what I'm about to state may not be new. I was just a little underwelmed. THe graphics looked amazing till you get close to an object, so that was a plus. I'm old school and am really not comfortable with the F bomb getting dropped in games these days. It just seems liek a cop out to avoid saying something clever. I'm also just not buying into these shooters that have such jerky unrealistic movement: like Unreal Tournement. I like Halo because it lets me use my natural controls (Legacy Inverted), the action is fast but the characters have weight to them. I know Chief jumps high, but he runs in a manner different than rabbit. Now a game that I have qued on my Gamefly may be getting removed.
I do give it props for having the juke box play Heart and BOC as well as it starting in my former home of Oklahoma.
-
It runs pretty good on the 360, better then my buds P4 3.0, x800xt 256meg rig.
And try playing the 360 on the same damn computer monitor before you go saying the textures are not as good and such. Because if you are comparing the PC version on a PC monitor to the 360's on an HDTV, then no shit the textures will look better on a pc monitor.
Gotta love people who love to hate.
-
I feel like I'm playing Doom 3 again. Cool graphics and the gravity shifting is awesome, but its just to similar to Doom 3 for me. I didn't notice any framerate drops, or tearing. There weren't any technical problems for me, its just too much Doomesk for my liking.

i dont have a problem with the textures & i didnt have a problem with the framerate in Quake 4 but after the devs said this game was going to have a smooth framerate i was expecting it to have one! imo its worse than Q4 in tearms of framerate
im not saying that because its 30 instead of 60 because that doesnt bother me, its the way it takes a dive from time to time thats pissing me off
i can play if at max setting on my PC
AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-57 Processor
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX Extreme Edition 256MB
SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
but i wanted it for the 360 to play from the sofa
-
yea, when you turn your head real fast in some areas, it can get choppy. Detracts quite a bit from the experience. Then there's the fact that the game is nothing I haven't played before. I can walk upside down, wow...

I mean really do you really want to hear that instead.

I would have to agree looks damn good on my lcd pc monitor , But slightly lower on my hdtv wich displays at 1080i wich still looks great especially for viewable area 32in compared to 17in. Still blows away graphics of other 360 games. The framerate issues seem to be non exsistent on my 360, might be the fact I just had my launch system replaced due to the the red ring of death, otherwise your setup is probably flawed. So dont listen to all these bitches saying it sucks andits like quake 4 becuz it aint at all. Multiplay wasnt working yesterday I would give it a day or so, they have been having server problems hence the demo delay and such.

agree,

I just downloaded it last night. To just try out the multiplayer. Basically every game lagged and just wasnt as fun as the pc version. I think I will just be buying the pc one instead. I can do alot better with mouse / keyboard anyway.
-
This game should be called QUAKE 5
-
i didnt get very far into the demo before i shut it off...
to me the graphics were better on the PC demo.. and you can SAVE your game. i will rent this... but im not going to rush out and buy it.

You have virtually an identical rig to me. The only difference is that I have 2 7800gtx in SLi.

I played the Demo last night and I thought it had the makings for a pretty decent story. Loved how the aliens were killing people with those machines and hearing the screams in the background. portals were definetly wierd and first I've seen portals like these, where you can run around a box and see nothing, but when you look into or run into the box, your in a whole new area. Running around upside down, and seeing other people running around defying gravity was an interesting concept. Personally, I can't wait to rent this game, I'd love to see where this story leads.
As far as people having framerate issues on larger tv's, I don't see it. I have a 61" DLP and mine operated smoothly, no jerkiness and no jumping around. You guys might want to see if your tv's arn't up to par, all of those "Bargin" HDTV's arn't always what they're cracked up to be. I thought I heard somewhere that LCD's are succeptible to framerate problems, I could be wrong though.
Personally I think people need to stop picking apart every little bad part of a game. I'd rather see the graphics get a little weak in trade off for a game with quality play control and most importantly, a good story to follow. There just arn't enough games anymore that follow a decent story line.
-
Hey just out of interest.
What is that song playing as you get beemed up at the beginning? I recognise it from somewhere.
-
blue oyster cult - dont fear the reaper
-
"I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell." Christopher Walken on SNL
-
Yer perhaps it was on snl, i was watching a will ferell dvd with snl sketches the other day, perhaps it was in one of those.
-
if you only know the song from watching snl thats kind sad ...
Anyways liked the demo. Just hope the online portion isnt as laggy as it has been for me.
-
Well I am English so im not really up on american culture. Thought I was doing quite well just to be watching snl
-
I liked the demo, and the only thing I found that reminded me of doom 3 were the graphics (which is no shock considering it uses that games engine). This game has been in development for somewhere around 9-11 years, so gameplay wise I don't think they really drew inspiration from doom 3.
I enjoyed the puzzles, doom 3 didn't really have any puzzles. A couple of them took me a few moments to figure out (when you have to be standing on the gravity strip and then spirit walk to the switch to move your body across the room).
The enemies are kind of stupid, but there also isn't really a big variation in the demo, according to some previews there are a lot more enemies, so maybe they will be a bit smarter, but I don't have my hopes up.
Overall though the game accomplished what any good game shoud, it was entertaining. I didn't notice any framerate issues and the graphics looked the same as my top end PC (However I do play my 360 on a PC monitor).
-
I didn't realize that BOC was playing for everyone when you get "taken". I thought it was playing for me because I was listening to the old stuff on the juke box, like Heart.
-
Cowbell..good stuff.
You can actually change the song on the jukebox when you are in the bar. There is a judas priest song and some others that I don't know.
I didn't have any framerate or tearing issues, and I enjoyed doom 3 so I think this will fill my fast twitch killing need.
-
weird thing is i played this in 480p when it was first released
saw alot of tearing in the whole cave area and a small amount of frame rate hickups, but nothing too noticable
and then picked up my hd screen played it in 720 p
and it played as if i was on a new system the tearing was gone and i have no frame rate issues?
could it be a downscale problem?
-
that's really strange that it plays better in 720p then 480p
but never-the-less different settings will net different results with some games. 720p is usually a safe bet as all 360 games are optimized at that resolution.... anything else is an afterthought.
