In PGR3 you can play it in the garage. I don't think it will count toward your achievments though, unless you pay for it.

the demo online looks way better on my tv....the pgr3 arcade doesnt compare but i got the free trial and its a blast.....

It really is the most fun game on XBLA.  I'm just sad I REALLY suck at it.  I can't get more than 150K points.  The screen is just too full of fireworks for me to focus on where things are coming from.  Anyone here have a high score of better than 150K?  Not that that is a great feat, just curious.

JUST scored 242,000 points!!!  I was so pissed I JUST missed the 250K achievement.  

I survived the 60 seconds of pacificity... but it was a bitch.  Took my quite a while.  Next stop: 250K Survival!

EDIT:  255,200 points!  I'm going for broke!

highest i ever got was like 70,000. then my friend came over who had never played it before, who was a little bit baked.... he played that shit like he was the last star fighter! (i'm hoping no one else has seen this movie) like 150,000 points...

i hear ya about this game being cool.  i also spend my time playing this game and hexic. i havent even opened up PDZ yet.  i got the pacifist acheivement also, it took me about 10 tries to get it.

this game just shows how much game play matters more than graphics....
maybe wiht xbox live arcade we will see some sort of new retro game style revolution

Techniques?  SHOOT EVERYTHING AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.   laugh.gif

But seriously, the black hole things that warp the game when you shoot them? Yeah, you can shoot them and they will blow up harmlessly.  The more stuff they suck in before you kill them, the higher your score.  That's a helpful bit.  I ignore the purple ninja star things... they are harmless.  But the damn pink and green squares get shot FIRST.  Hope that helps.

I agree.    One time I had four black holes turned on sucking everything in and then all four corners decide to unleash multiple enemies and they got sucked in, the black holes exploded and made chaser black holes all after me then I screamed like a little girl.   I love this game. love.gif

Ewww, the millions of little blue triangle things that come around the 150K mark are AWFUL!!  I had to use 2 bombs because the computer thought I needed the challenge of TWO waves of the bastards!  Grrr.  Back to more Geo Wars LUV.

I dont' mind them because if you listen for their audio que, you can get the hell out of dodge and head towards the border (where they are less likely to get you).  The pink ones do suck in mass, but if you can get out of the center, blasting them isn't too bad.  The Green things are annoying because they surf your gravity ripple affect thing... just random shooting is all I can say.  At least they run away when you aim at them.  I'm still grappling with the worm like things because you can only kill them if you shoot the heads.  I usually just bomb them and call it a day.

And what the hell are you doing to get almost 500K Himura???  Teach me oh wise one!! Hahaha.  laugh.gif

i find the green are the easiest to deal wiht you just push them into the wall wiht your fire untill they cant move  then push your fire in on them they are easy to "heard"

the green guys are the worst for that first 10k,... with the shitty gun, they are hard,....... after that i agree they are easy to "herd"

i know you can "kill" the blackholes in the first geometry wars, but i havent done it in the Evolved version.... but i kinda like the blackholes anyways,... they suck the bad guys away from you...... and they are oh so pretty..... it's too bad the acheivements aren't worth much in this game, it's soo hard they should make em worth more.....

I think MS dictates the total number of Gamer Points that can be distributed per game. Full retails get around 1000 and Live Arcade games get about 200.  I think it can vary from game to game but ultimately MS controls it.


I am also totally hooked on this game. I played it a bunch in PGR and decided to actually buy it... This and Hexic get about 75% of the playtime on my 360... I never would have thought I'd be dropping hundreds of dollars to play $5 arcade games in HD/Surround Sound on my home theater system... such overkill  laugh.gif

I totally suck at GeoWars though... I've yet to make it to 250K (made 100K survivor no problem) and I usually die within the first 30 seconds going for pacifist mode... Though I did it in the PGR version before I bought the game and was pissed that I didn't get the achievment.

I'm much better at Hexic. I almost managed to get a black pearl flower, I was one pearl short and my game ended with a bomb... Bastards  laugh.gif

All I do when theres a lot guys surrounding me is I shoot and plow through in one single direction so I kill the guys im suppose to hit. Also, learn when to use the bombs, haha.  beerchug.gif

The white stars allow you to turn the 6 jewels around it in a direction.  The black pearls are made by making a flower of white stars.  Black pearls can move the 3 jewels on it's edges.  That's all I know for now.

so, last weekend i managed to get ahold of some acid......... thought this would be easier to get in the 'zone' of obliterating geometric shapes,... but wholly shit man, i could barely squeek past 50k.  It was impossible to tell what was going on when everything that went across the screen trailed for like 3 seconds.... but good fun none theless.  


.....gunna try again this weekend

Dear sweet jesus... 492,000 points and I have a twitch in my thumb; 8000 more points... mad.gif    I can't fathom 900K points.  I have a new found hatred for those tiny blue star things.  Is there anyway to kill them all without using a bomb??  I've even tried saving the black holes for the fuckers and all that gets me is more blue shit flying at me when they blow up!  But I love a good challenge.

I think we're all out to lunch on the tiny blue stars... they are an impossibility.  As for the multipliers, you get a 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, etc.  the longer you stay alive.  As soon as you die, you go back to 1x.  The key to get 10x is stay alive the whole way to 10x.

It won't be a big deal, but if you're score is that high, you HAVE to be getting 6x and 7x by then.  A little bell like tone will sound when you get a multiplier and it will flash up behind the starburst of the enemy you killed.  

The Triangle has been on so I've not played in 3 days... Have to get on that tonite.

I finally got the pacifism achievment.  I got 250,000 survival and 326,000 high score and I was so frustrated that I couldnt do the easiest achievment. When i did it just now i thought i didnt do it and then i was just messing around and then when the game was over I was like hell yes slut.

when i got survival 250,000 i think i only finished with 260k. it was nuts, the best ive ever done in one life and the worst i did with the remaining 3-4.

my high score is 565k

yeah bitch just got 668,000. im only about 1000 on the leaderboards though.  I really hate hexic though.  its way too boring then a bomb comes and all of my 30 mins of progress is lost.

I was like number 80 on the leaderboards...the catch is that I won my 360 from Mt. Dew, and got it on the 19th, and it was the first game I downloaded, so there wasn't much competition. I've gotten up to 242,000 points, but haven't played in a long time. I remember thinking "this game is the shit", I guess I'm not alone in thinking that. I'm glad there has been a lot of buzz about this game, since developers will see that, and hopefully make more games like it. I love the old school, retro arcade feel, with the cutting edge graphics, particle fx etc.

I recommend downloading some nu-skool breakbeats (Adam Freeland, Uberzone, Rennie Pilgrem) and bumping it while playing.

Yeah, I downloaded the Mutant Storm Demo, I only played the first level or whatever, seemed like GW......I might have to get the full version and have some fun with that.
