i dont see a reason why not, i mean everything we have seen so far looks unreal and its not even runnng off of finished hardware.  all that plus the fact that no games are fully taking advantage of the multi core and custom GPU of the 360.  so i would say yeah after the developers get to know the hardware.

Let me just say..............I doubt it. Games never look anywhere close to their early screenshots, just look at early Halo 2 and Gran Turismo 4 screens and you will see what I am talking about.

I haven't seen anything on the x360 hardware that has impressed me so far. The PS3 has had a load of renders which look amazing but I haven't seen anything woth my time on the 360 yet.

I'm hoping it will impress me before I buy it....

I've seen tons of In-game stuff on Xbox 360 that looks amazing and impresses me. On the ps3 all i have seen is mostly crappy cgi and renders they try to pass off as in-game.

BTW, the majority of any in-game stuff I have seen on ps3 sucks.

I have to dis-agree with you, look at teh recent upgrades to Frame City Killer for an example.

Look at the self-shadowing, new bump mapped hair etc.

I still don't understand how some of you cannot find PGR 3 to look amazing.

I also feel that a lot of people didnt see the gotham video that showed the game in real time.

Nothing short of stunning.

Next summer is filled with eye popping games due to hit. GoW, Dark Sector, Huxley and others I cannot remember right now.

whether or not you LIKE the PGR series doesn't mean you can't comprehend graphical advancments





If you can't tell which one is current gen and which one is next gen you need to have your friggin head examined.

BTW both of those screen shots are in their native resolutions

No I wasn't replying to your post....

I was simply showing that Yes the graphics are better than current gen and Yes they will look as good as the 2 Days to Vegas screens (which IMO the PGR3 screen I posted looks as good if not better than)

The only reason I used PGR is because it's the only 1st party next gen launch title continuing a legacy from the current Gen Xbox.

but IMO, that PGR3 screen doesnt even look as good as TOCA Pro Race Driver 2 on my PC, a game which is over a year old now.

When I first saw those Vegas screens, pre-E3, I was skeptical.

After seeing what GOW and PGR3 have to offer, the 360 seems more than capable of scenes like those.  

With time and effort, the majority of developers will be able to squeeze a lot more out the 360 than is currently being displayed.  

In a couple years, after the development process is more streamlined, we will really start to see the next generation.

Anyways, we will start to see some truly amazing games in a year or two. IF Cliffy B and everyone else can get games looking this amazing while barely touching the final dev kits, I'm sure (positive) that once they've spent time with it and developers get used to it, we will see things in the Xbox 360 really being used.

Look at any sequel of a game.
If you know anything about product/game develpment in this industry, or just developing anything in general with a toolset, then you will understand that the answer to this topic thread is yes.

I meant that it will take a couple years for us to see the true power of the 360.  After then we will see what the "next generation" really has to offer.

Although the launch line up is good, there are still a few games that don't quite live up to some people's expectations.

The true power of most systems has never really been shown until a couple years after the initial launch.  

Look at the visual difference between Halo 1 and 2.  I think we will see the same kind of graphical progression in the next generation of games as well.

With the exception of the human models, the pgr3 engine could already pull off similar graphics to those 2 days 2 vegas screens. With experience good developers should be capable of the same.

many people said the same thing about part 3 and yet its one of the best looking fighters to even today.  im sure that when you see that game in motion running in 720p on a nice TV all doubts will vanish.  

people keep forgetting that we havent even seen anything to what the 360 is capable of.  give it a year and if your jaw isnt on the floor then its hopeless.

How can you people NOT see the difference between the Xbox and the 360 versions of DOA...

Look at the skin in the Xbox version... it's flat in tone and color, it has shading but that's it... now look at the 360 version it has a realistic sheen on it reflectivity and radiosity....

Look at the clothing on the Xbox version the wrinkles, pocket, buckles etc. were all faked with textures... on the 360 they're all actually friggin rendered. Just look at the left player's pans in the 360 shot... You can tell the flames are embroidered on due to the higher poly model and normal mapping.

Look at the freaking environments. The Tree in DOA3 is a tube with a texture on it... the crap-tastic dock in the background that you can almost count the polygons from all the way in the foreground. Now look at DOA4... EVERYTHING in the background is unbelievable detailed not just high res textures but fully modeled and normal mapped, Heck look at the difference in the ground alone... every friggin bump on the bricks in DOA4 is normal mapped... DOA3 has a bland repetitive texture. In DOA4 EVERYTHING has appropriate reflectivity and radiosity... DOA3 has no reflectivity or radiosity in ANYTHING AT ALL.

Heck just look at the overall difference between the two... DOA4 is bright, vibrant, and crystal clear. DOA3 by comparison looks washed out and dull by comparison.

I think most of your complaints stem from "the people don't look real" well guess what, they're not supposed to. DOA is an anime style fighter... they're not supposed to look real they're supposed to look like vapid china dolls, that's the ART style, Ninja Gaiden is no different.

If you can't tell the difference between art direction and graphical enhancements then I don't think any of you will like anything that comes from Japan this next generation.

wow that car looks very real ive looked at it and looked but really cant tell the difference if its real or not.that is my car too ..acura tl...but ive never seen it in a 2-dr but it looks like it. after seeing this screen i want to remove all the decals from the back of mine.

I also belive that it will take a while for 360 to take full advantage but not to long

and for peopple who want doa4 to look real why dont you post or look at fight night ....you can see pores in the skin thats amazing and that calls for realism.

that sorry excuse for a game was Superman 64 and i remember trying to play it once and when i tried to fly the game was glitching out and it looked like he was having convulsions    very very sad game it was.  couldnt agree with you more on the whole next gen though, its going to be exciting times especially when the actual next gen technology is going to be put to real use in a couple of years.

i thought the only thing that was different with the halo2 pics is that they were shown at a higher resolution then what the game actually was.  other then that the pics showed an accurate view of the game.
