thanks for the great scans!
Thanks a lot for the great pics Deftech - think I'm going to have to buy the UK OXM when it's out, it just looks too good...
They're good quality pics and lots of them though - thanks
Does anyone know when there's going to be an 'OXM360' or something coming out?
great scans thanks, ill have to see the mag when i stop by this weekend. you didnt get the disk with that did you???
and carlo marrowind isnt that detailed. its similar to how oblivion will be. you have 8 i think attributes (stamina, personality, strength, mind, and more) then you main and secondary skills which you choose in the beginning of the game. if one of your main skills is the long sword then the more you use long swords the more that skill will level up. every skill would effect a certain attribute (heavy armor would count towards strength). so every time you went up a level with your heavy armor skill (just by wearing it) it would add a multiplier to stregth. after leveling up 10 skills you would be asked to sleep to level up your character. you sleep and when you awake there would be 3 tokens to apply to your attributes and which ever you put it on would be multiplied by your skill bonuses. so if you leveled up 4 skills that effected strength then instead of going up only once your level for your strength would go up by 4. all this may seem a bit confusing but once you played and got used to the leveling system it was easy. and there was no harder enemies the game got so easy for me in the higher levels that was party why i stopped playing. oblivion should be more straight forward and easy with them getting rid of the experience points
chilin_dude...Its launching in September, and they are going to keep making the original OXM for xbox fans.
My subscription ended in March and I still get the mags, lol
As far as what Kage just said about Morrowind, I had no idea all that stuff went on.
Are we going to be doing that in Oblivion do ya think? The sleeping and shit?
no like bethesda said you wont see any experience points in the game. some skills in marrowind improved as they leveled up (the more you jumped the higher and farther you can jump over time) but others wouldnt improve at all instead i think your swing or use of the weapon became stronger (weapons mostly) but with oblivion i think no matter what you do you improve that skill by continued use and it should be noticable. so the more you use your sword the better you get at handling it or the more you run around the faster you can run without wearing down your stamina.
i think its great that they are taking a more natural and seamless aproach. i always thought thats the way RPGs should be, the more you use a skill the better you became at it not by applying experience points.
nice, a more natural approach
You're right, it's sort of detrimental to the play experience to have so many numbers in your head. Games should be concentrated on the experience itself, taking cues from how your character looks or performs differently over time should be indication enough of what's going on with them or how they're improving.
It's the same reason I play Fight Night with the HUD turned off.
Oblivion is so f00cking next gen i just cant wait for it!! (Although seeing that it will come out on the PC as well i might buy the PC version so that i can mod it more easily).
Still its in my top 1 launch title slot along with Ghost Recon.
BTW Chromehounds looks AWESOME!
November is just to far away!!
