LMAO - you should go listen to some john lennon, then maybe watch outfoxed... when you're a jaded old man with more a worldly view come back and re-answer.
I think that the AI and Net-Gen graphics are a given, hand in hand, for the X360. One without the other would not make sense in the Next-Gen market, that's what alot of dev's are striving to do. So if you want Smart AI you can expect the graphics to go along with it.
I'll take graphics over AI. Very sledom am I playing a game and thinking to myself "wow this AI is awesome" but I do enjoy the graphics. Right now AI is great, in games that it's really hard I'm to busy trying to win to think about smart moves the AI makes. It will get better with the coming generation and that improvement is enough for me, no need to take extra time and make it even better.
Good AI in my opinion is a highly underrated thing.
Anybody here played Forza far enough to where the AI starts to basically take you roughly from behind (and I mean that literally, not as a racing reference)? Reminds me of, umm, Mario Cart 64s cheapness mixed with the Grand Tursimo 2 follow the race line like a robot-god monotony.
It could have been a GREAT game if it had AI decent enough to allow them to be competitive without slamming you into a wall at 180mph as the only way they can beat you.
And how about at least decent AI compared to really stupid AI. Raise your hand if you think Halo would have been as good a game if it had enemy AI like the Timesplitter or Medal of Honor series
Anybody with their hands raised is either a liar, or a fool. At least the Covenant would run from a thrown grenade and not stand next to it ignorant.
Yeah, I want pretty graphics, but I require good AI. Is Forza beautiful? Yes. Is it fun? No.
And if you havent read it yet, do so: A Gamers Manifesto
I really want forza I need to go pick it up. I love racing games unfourtanetly I've always hated how they deal with some issues. For one no matter how far ahead you get they can always go fast enough to automaticly catch up which I hate, and as xombe said I finaly beat all 112 races on NFS:U and I would spin out or be near the finsish and they would ram me out of control and I would lose, it got me so frusterated it make the game not enjoyable at times. I guess I don't notice good and bad AI because I normaly play multiplayer games and on FPS's I rarely play single player. Halo 2's AI was fairly decent, and with improvements on that with this coming gen I think I will be happy with it. If not I can always blame it on M_hael
Halo 2 AI was decent.. but I still own their asses!!!
What about Brothers in Arms? I thought that game was amazing.. shit I couldn't surivive by just running and being a machine just shooting them down... no you had to take cover while your squad supressed them and you go around.. trying to not get hit...
Ai is just one of those things people take for granted... You don't mis it until it's not there.
When it's good you don't think about it, when it's bad you're constantly thinking "MAN this sucks" If it's holy **** amazing then you might say "hmm that was interesting" but it's not something that typically stands out.
Physics is the same way...
In my opinion, they can skip all single player, and all AI therefore...
i only play multiplayer games....
halo2? havent even played single player
halo1: same thing
etc etc...
with out a good AI you might as well be running around alone in an empty world...AI makes the game...
with out it your pretty much looking at nice graphics and doing nothing more, AI make a game what it is not the graphics...ive played games that looked great and played liek shit and i didnt keep playing just cause it looked pretty...
its like dating a hot dumb blonde they are only good to look at and you can only play with them alittle bit before your bored and need to move on to the next
graphics and ai go hand and hand. granted graphics makes a bigger impact on pulling you into the world, but its the ai that will continue to amaze you after the flash and shock of the gorgeous graphics finally settle in. would halo or splinter cell be worth playing time after time again if the enemy stood there while their friends were pegged off? or didnt dodge when a grenade was thrown?? no because it would be the same game over and over, no matter how pretty it looks it would only end up be a graphical showcase, not a classic game that people play for years on end
but really i love graphics, as do a lot of us and thats why we own an xbox instead of a shitstation 2. but were getting to a point in gaming where one will compliment the other in equal value and you will know it a game is lacking in one area or the other.
a game that looks like @$$ wont pull you in at all no matter how good the stick figures react to your moves, but at the same time a gorgeous looking scenery that is void of life will lose its shine rather quickly.
i know im just pointing out the obvious and what has basically been said already but im such a freak about both parts of games.
when i first played halo 1 on legendary i couldnt believe how well they adapted and moved to what i was doing, no two battles were alike. but at the same time if halo 1 had ps2 graphics (if you could call it that) then the game wouldnt have the same sence of belief that you were walking through a valley, a cavern, or on a beach ripping through aliens left and right.

GTA would be ALOT more fun with better AI,
