I will soon have a spare wireless cable modem (a new Netgear, i currently use a LinksysWRT54GL which is used as the main house router).
I dont really want to fork out for another piece of kit (either a XBOX wireless adaptor or a wireless bridge) if one of these routers can do the job of enabling the Xbox 360 to access my home network and LIVE etc.
ANy ideas if this is possible, if so any guides?
Thanks
M

A router can be used as a wireless adapter as long as it's able to go into bridge mode. I'm not sure if the router you have can do that. Check the documentation. If it does you're good to go.

its a NETGEAR WGR614 v9 Wireless Cable Router.
I have found these instructions from the Netgear router:

Is this the right set of instructions i need?

Use the Netgear as your primary wireless router, then flash your WRT54GL with DD-WRT which will allow you to use it as a wireless bridge.

(Those Netgear instructions allow you to configure it as an access point, which will not do what you are looking for.)
