Title: Simple Connection
Post by: ruddyrum on August 29, 2006, 01:58:00 PM
I have networked my old xbox to my PC which can access the net through a bridged connecton. I have tried hooking my 360 up to the same connection, but although my PC can see the 360, the xbox cannot seem to communicate with my PC or internet connection  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)  I have assigned the 360 the same IP as my xbox to simplfy matters - any general troublshooting will be much apreciated.

My second point is Media streaming - this is why i still have my old xbox around for playing media ony my tv (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)  I had MCE installed, but as i could not get anything working, I tried giving vista a go. This detected my 360 straight away, however the xbox was still not communicating with my pc  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) -  at this stage in vista no firewall had been installed, disabled MS firewall, and xbox was setup to automatically assign an IP. Is there any other media solution available, or is there yet a means to playback media in windows XP?

let the xbox360 get its IP automatically if there is a DHCP enabled device on the other network card when you bridge it can still assign to the other device.

as for the media streaming windows XP has media connect which allows sharing of music and image files. MCE and vista allow for selected video formats (WMV only i believe but not sure) to be streamed. vista extender is nice when it works lol
