Title: Dvd2xbox Patching Question
Post by: gto65l on December 21, 2003, 08:06:00 AM
I backed up Project Gotham 2 last night.  But it got hung up on the processing acl screen.  So it never patched the file.  It took an extremely long time to copy the game.  I was wondering if there was a way I could just tell it to patch the media without recopying the game?

go to the disk browser, choose the default.xbe, press left trigger and choose patching media check 1/2.
Use 0.5.2 tc1. If acl patching still don't work for you disable it by setting enableACL to 0 then normal patching is used.

WiSo, I've seen this happen now with a couple of games (PGR2 and Rugby League).  It just seems to pause at the Processing ACL screen.  Now, I don't know if it's a coincidence, but both of these games have a lot of small files (a few thousand).  I noticed that the [default] ACL entry searches through all .xbe files, so is this problem perhaps because it has to check through every single file?  I'm just guessing here.

As a workaround, you can edit the [default] ACL entry to search and patch only default.xbe, instead of all .xbes, and this seems to work.  However, I don't know if there was a reason why the [default] ACL entry was set to patch all .xbes in the first place.

This is what your editted ACL entry could look like:

CODE
[default]
CP|${DEST}\default.xbe|${DEST}\default.xbe_orig|
HR|${DEST}\default.xbe|1|744BE8CAFDFFFF85C07D0633C05050EB44F605|744BE8CAFDFFFF85C0EB0633C05050EB44F605|
HR|${DEST}\default.xbe|1|E8CAFDFFFF85C07D|E8CAFDFFFF85C0EB|
SM|${DEST}\default.xbe|400001FF|

Sometimes patching more xbe's is needed. With the normal autopatching it justs 'remembers' the xbe files and afterwards patch it. You are right, with the acl it has to search all files again for xbe's. But that it takes so long ?!.
Seems to be that I need PG2 for testing   :)
