I always gound out the RT63 resistor but it should be fine even with the rt63 left alone. As long as you are already updated to the latest dash it shouldn't burn efuses. Using the MS update at this point doesn't do much other than copying the $systemupdate folder to memory so the box can utilize features that don't fit inside the nand. Even so, it is a good idea to have the rt63 grounded out or removed on all Jtag boxes.
Differences between Bridge or removal:
Bridging the RT63:
You are connecting the curcuit to a ground source and any power that goes through drops to Zero. Nothing ever makes it to the efuse.
Removal:
The rt63 ressistor is actually removed so any power that is sent can't make it to the efuse.
It is highly unlikely that removing the ressistor will cause damage but sending power that cant go anywhere can cause problems. For this reason, the bridge method is a better choice. It is also easier if you know what you are doing. You don't need to do both, just one or the other. Removal preferred for newbies becase it is not hard to verify it is removed. It can be hard for inexperienced people to solder the bridge correctly.
