Ok well i have an old xbox that i broke and the hdd still works but i am not sure of how to unlock it since i can't get the password with my xbox. Does anyone know how to unlock it with out my xbox.

there are 2 options. the first option is only if the drive was locked with config magic. the master password is TEAMASSEMBLY. there is a tut around here about how to unlock it through dos.
the second option is the one i took. i got an unlocked hard drive from my buddys xbox and booted to config magic. i took the eeprom backup that i made from my old mobo and placed it in the data folder in config magic. then all you do is load the new eeprom and update the xbox. your hard drive should now be able to unlock

The Problem is i never got my old xbox broke so the drive was locked my M$ and i never had made a backup of my old mobo eeprom. So if you have any other ideas or ways i can get around that it will help thanks.

If you had a stock HD then Just buy a new one. You cannot unlock the drive without the key. Then just use slayers 2.1 which contains a modified MS dashboard and supported files.
