Title: We Need A Dvd Vob Player! Like Dvdx2.0
Post by: NightL1fe on October 23, 2003, 07:50:00 PM
well successfully ripped The Hulk with DVD2XBOX to TheHulk Folder in F: Videos.. its somthing like 8.4gb , anyways.. XBMP 2.4+ will play the vobs but you dont have the menu option cursor to pick menu system..
if launched from DVD then DVDx2 will load the DVD and you got all features .. menu select.. camera angles.. etc.. we need a program that can launch vobs from file broswer system/gui to watch our backup DVDs on our hard drive

You just need something that can parse the IFOs. I'd like it if Team Xecuter could maybe release DVDX3, but what with the X3 BIOS and X3 mod chip, they've got their hands full.

I ripped LoTR Disc One special edition and when i goto play the VOB's from the file menu it has no sound and ususally skipps and some dont work. I am using XBMP 2.4. I ripped it using the newest DVD2XBOX that was on xbins. I also tried the XBMC that came out the 19th of this month and that does not work either. Anyone know the problem?

Allen, you've got a completely different problem than we're talking about.
NightL1fe, the IFO files aren't really executables as much as they are navigational files, so to speak. The VOB files contain the movies (obviously) as well the visual aspect of the menus. The IFO files contain pointers to different menu systems, audio streams, subtitles, etc...all of which are contained in the VOBs.

I second this......I would be soooo incredibly happy if they came up with a program to do it. Until then, i guess divx is the only way....
