Title: Dvdx V2
Post by: Zeeden on January 10, 2003, 11:20:00 PM
Okay, I have DVDX v2 and a Aladdin chip.  I pop in DVDX and when I press eject to pop in a dvd movie the xbox resets.  I am doing this wrong or is my setup wrong?
Sorry N00b here.

Thanks

DVDX will not work well off of a boot disc. Also, does your chip support the "Eject Trick"?

One more thing, DVDX would not work for me AT ALL unless I had EvoX pointing to it as the default DVD player, and then started my movie from EvoX. I could not just launch DVDX, and then insert the movie...

Yes, the chip has the eject trick and I don't got no evox dashboard installed

Can anyone direct me to any tutorial or link on how I can get this to work?

Thx

Sorry, I have never gotten dvdx to work without EvoX, so I will be following this thread along side you, to see if anyone has any answers. (I have never found a DVDX tutorial, either!)

Found out the aladdin chip that I bought from qualitymods had no eject trick when it clearly stated that it did.  I grabbed a cheapmod from somebody else and the eject trick is now working.  I popped in dvdx, pressed eject, inserted the movie and nothing happened.

Its gotta be able to work even the .txt files says so.
"No dashboard patch needed - this is a stand alone application.

Can be run from disc (CDRW - won't work on DVDR) or straight from Hard Drive"

Why wouldn't you want to load up a dashboard and dvdx onto your HD?  It might take yah...a few minutes?

Let me add that I have had probs with DVDx on my HD, what happened was the default.xbe file in the root dir of DVDx was missing.  Are you positive that you have a default.xbe and a media dir on that CD-RW?

I just unrared and burned the thing.  If there's something I did wrong then I don't know what it is.
I might just have to use evox, too lazy to install it beerchug.gif

Unpack it, make sure you have a good default.xbe and a media directory.  Then you can at least rule out your ISO image.

I know you were trying it without evox.  That's why you need to at least rule out your ISO image.  Do you even know what's in that ISO?  That's why I said unpack it and make sure all the files are in place.
