Title: Custom .x File Not Working
Post by: Scaramanga on August 08, 2004, 08:35:00 AM
I followed this tutorial from kernel base:
http://www.kernelbase.com/modules.php?name...op=getit&lid=31

And used FTT to modify the 4981 and add the custom x file.
Everything works fine but after the flubber when the xbox should come
I see big green yuck all over the screen.
(btw my text has 60 verticles)

Any help would be appreciated.

edit: I tried doing it with the SAMPLE text, meaning
I don't do anything except convert sample text to mesh then save as DXF
and open the deep explorer.
I still get green all over the screen.

edit2: when I open other custom .x files that work (I've checked)
They appear to be flipped in deep exploration.

Need to follow the tut carefully! need to invert faces in DE, if you need more support with the app try and post on kernelbase.com if you can as it keeps everything to do with that topic in one place. Hopefully oneday someone with the same problem will see you post and the answer :-)

I followed the video guide carefully and it doesn't show anywhere to flip the faces.
Maybe its just my computer but the video is in really low fps (like 1fps).

What I did is open the 3ds max 6 template in max.
select sample text, turn to mesh, export selected, saved as .dxf.

Opened the file in Deep Exploration, tools->3d->invert face orientation.
file->save as..->
unchecked everything except ASCII mode (which is not greyed out like in the vid) and turn to left hand system.
Saved the file, loaded 4981 in Kernel basher (which is awesome)
imported .x, flashed to chip and I still get green thing all over the screen.

This is NOT a problem with kernelbasher.
I have tried modifying the bios through FTT with a premade .x file (from kernelbase site) and it works.
But, when I try to use my own .x I get that green thing all over the screen.

edit:
this is my sample x

Please use deep explorer 2 not 3.5

3.5 gives out the wrong data.

The files looking flipped is correct, ( thats what inverting the faces does) it is a very important stage, miss it and you wont see the image at all.

^^
That was the problem.
You must use V2 or else it doesn't work.
