i am using iprep with ixtreme 1.2c and a via 6214L sata pci card (the one with the four usb ports)
i installed the latest drivers for the pci card, iprep detected it and i set up the floppy drive using it
there are 3 ide ports on my mother board, one beneath another.
the top one connects to the floppy drive, the second one to my DVD drives and third to my hard drives
i unplugged the ide cables from the hard drives to avoid interference, and plugged the ide cable that went to my primary drive into the ide slot on the sata pci card
using both idump and mtkflash commands reports 'no drive detected'
i thought that perhaps sata wasn't enabled in my bios, or that it was in raid mode, but there is no option to change anything to do with sata in my bios set up
do i need special drivers for the pci card to force it to run in the correct way? or is there something i'm missing?
any help will be greatly appreciated!

I could not get samsungs to be detected when having a hard drive connected to the via card (my mobo only has 2 ide slots which is connected to two dvd burners, been holding off on doing a onboard sata raid). If you were talking about having the floppy drive connected to the sata card, I would never flash from a floppy drive but it should probably left on the onboard ide cable.
To get the drive to show up try this:
Type in the idump xxxxxxx xxxxxx, turn on the console, press enter. When it says no drive detected press f3, then enter. If it doesn't show up do f3 and enter again.
Once it shows up: turn off the console, press the number next to Xtreme, turn on the console. Do the same thing for flashing.
If it isn't working try another port, the port that usually works is the one farthest from the backplate, towards the front end of the pc.
