I have an xbox that does not have a hard drive.
Would it be possible to put a new blank hard drive in, install windows xp, then run it like a computer on my TV?
Here is my goal: Use the PC I'm on now to rip the lord of the rings, then save them all as one single movie (editing out the credits) then transfer it to my xbox so I can just play that on my tv.
Would this work? If so, please explain how, don't flame me for being new to the forums, you were a noob once too.
EDIT: If I could do this using a different method, please post how to do it.
And if it involves buying a mod chip, please help me find the cheapest one that will be able to do the job.

Fit a mod chip
Fit a hdd
Install XBMC
Either FTP or burn to disc the movie you create (AVI format??)
Play it in XBox Media Centre.
Done. :D
You do not need windows or linux to play movies on the xbox, just the above.

its not as simple as sticking ur xp disc in and installing it u know....
u can with linux tho. AFTER UVE MODDED IT THAT IS.
but yeah the xbox media centre solution is really all u need if thats all u want to do.

No he cant run it off the CD-RW without a modchip, or HDD and if he has a softmod his hdd must be locked, seeing as he doesn't have the original hdd, he cant get the eeprom to lock it.
He MUST have a modchip, as he doesn't have the original HDD
