Title: Lite-on Freezing, Please Help
Post by: darthjimmy1138 on September 02, 2009, 10:12:00 AM
I'm using

Maximus 360 Xtractor Pro

Maximus USB Xtractor Probe

Win XP SP3

Framework 3.5

Lite-On Drive.

Xtractor Pro is connected to my desktops power and is sending power to the 360 drive, I can eject and power on and off. My computer detects the USB Xtractor Tool and I get the light when I connect it to the RX point. I have no drivers installed for the Sata card and I have PORTIO installed. Sometimes when I open JF it won't even detect my drive even though its powered on and halfway closed, other times when open JungleFlasher it will detect my drive and my probe tool I'll connect the probe to the RX point and hit the DVDKey32 button and it will freeze on Sending DVDKey Request. I thought maybe it was a problem with JF so I tried XtractorReader, and same thing, sometimes it will detect the drive and other times it won't, when it does I can hit test port and I usually get Error Sending ATA Identify (Timeout).

Can anyone please help shed some light on my problems.

Had a similar problem when I had my xtractor pro, I solved it by connecting it to the serial rather than the usb. Also you say you have the spear usb add-on, is this because you dont have serial on your mainboard. If you do have serial why didn't you buy the spear that was designed for the xtractor pro. Also did you try using xtractor reader v2.7 ? I now use my CK3 lite and probe to do all liteons with firmware 73850c. One last thing what sata chipset are you using?

I don't have serial on my PC thats why I am using the USB Addon, but the Xtractor pro is designed to work with both isn't it?. My Sata chipset is VT6421A

I have a similar problem with liteons as well.

When I have the VIA driver installed I can READ but it'll freeze during ERASE. When I have the VIA driver deleted it will NOT read but will erase without freezing.

So my suggestion is to install the VIA driver and then try to dump the drive and if you successfully dump, then go ahead and disable the card, rename the driver and re-enable the card and you should be able to proceed.

If any of that was unclear let me know.

Yes, I rebooted after installing the drivers, and a couple of times since then.

I take it you installed the usb driver for the Xtractor pro from the Maximus web site and followed there instructions and also you are using 2.9 xtractor reader. If that fails then you could alway install a serial pci card into your pc and use the serial connector on the xtractor.

Tried everything you mentioned but the PCI card for serial, i even bought the Serial Extractor and tried it with a USB to serial adapter. Still having Lite-On Freezing issues and I have no clue why lol.

Does your jungleflasher look like this IE: page 10 of the jungleflasher PDF, make sure you have usb xtractor switch box ticked and select the correct comm port usualy 3 and you check the box that says via only.

Ok guys thanks for all the help problem solved now. I was using the wrong Sata port on my VIA card, I needed to use the one closest to the front of my PC and I wasn't, I was hooked into what I thought was the closest one lol. Once I moved the Sata cable I had no more problems.
