Hi!
I'm about to flash a stock Lite-On drive next week. I ordered Team Xecuter's Connectivity Kit 3 (Pro) and the CK3 Probe a week ago but unfortunately I got a probe that wasn't working so I'm wating for a new one (hopefully a working one) to arrive after the weekend. And when the probe arrives I want to be as ready as possible for the Lite-On flash and that's why I made this thread.
As you maybe understand my Connectivity Kit is working (for now at least (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) and when I'm going to flash the Lite-On drive I'm going to use the serial connection from the kit to my computer (with the drive connected of course). I know that you can use USB instead but I prefer the serial connection. The things is, my COM-port is a little strange on my computer right now and I want to make sure that it works when the probe arrives. So does anyone of you know some way that you can check that your COM-port is working when you have a drive connected to it via the serial connection on the CK, even if you don't have and Lite-On drive that you can read/flash for the moment?
I have a BenQ drive (that I already have flashed without using any kit, just the SATA from my VIA 6421A card to the drive) that I can connect to the kit and read/flash firmware from/to. Maybe there's some way I can test that the serial connection/my COM-port is working by reading/flashing a BenQ drive in some sort of special way? I also have a Lite-On drive that I can connect to the kit/to my computer but since I don't have the probe yet I can't read or flash firmware to that drive.
Thanks in advance, I would really appreciate if someone would like to help me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Greetings
Ricke
P.S As I have mentioned in my first thread here, I'm from Sweden and I'm 16 years old so my English isn't very good but I hope you understand what I mean. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Edit: I'm not sure that I have posted this thread in the correct forumpart. If not, I'm sorry and I hope that a nice Mod+ moves it to where it belongs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

you could try using another com port device, but other then that your just gonna have to wait and see if it works.
if it dosent you will get the inquiry data but not the key.

You can do a loopback test to the com port.
COM port loopback test
You can short the pins 2 and 3 from the com port with a piece of wire

Thank you very much for your replies/tips.
d4m4n: Don't really understand how to short the pins 2 and 3. If you can, please explain how do that more exactly. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

what he is saying, take a wire, touch one end on pin 2 and the other on pin 3.
Open hyperterm and type something and the what ever you type will appear on screen
