What SATA chipset are you using? You need either a VIA 6421 or Nforce SATA chipset in order to get it into Vendor Mode.

Yes, but what chipset is it? If you have Nforce onboard for instance, it should still work.

Is it flashed or is it w/ OFW ??
If it's OFW just use J/F and click unlock BENQ that should work 100%
If its flashed then u need to do the 1/2 way tray trick to set it in vendor mode.
As for on board sata it should work.

it is ofw and i tried both ways

that's nonsense, I have an intel chipset and can flash this or any other drive fine.
Try half open trick + benq unlock button

have u tried using the mtk vendor intro in dosflash? this is how i do it if benq unlock doesnt work:
1. boot up dos
2. power on drive
3. run dosflash
4. choose port
5. say no to "do you want to try sending the unlock code"
6. say no to the half open try method
7. say yes to resend mtk vendor intro command
8. powercycle the drive and it should now be in vendor mode
this method should work regardless of fw version or type of sata port, always has for me.

I've never had to have the tray half-open to do Benq's either (both retail and ixtreme). I just click on the Vendor intro and switch the drive off/on.
