Title: Dosflash V1.8 With Liteon V2 Freekey Support
Post by: Schtrom on August 08, 2009, 03:52:00 AM
Download it at the known places!

DosFlash V1.8
--------------------------
- now supports LiteOn PLDS DG-16D2S 83850C V2 Geremia/Maximus LiteOn FreeKey method
- huge firmware read/write speed increase, especially if run from a floppy disk
- updated IDE/SATA motherboard chipset list
- new IDE/SATA detection for Windows and DOS
- DosFlash.typ embedded in executable file
- LiteOn V1 drive key is now extracted 10 times and compared against each other,
after the extraction a summary is displayed sorted by the most common matches
- LiteOn V2 drive key is extracted 2 times and compared
- new BenQ unlock keys added to unlock all known BenQ drive firmwares
- command line parameter "EnableDrives" removed, DosFlash asks the user on
application close if he wants to enable the drives or not, during the tests it
seems that IDE drives have problems with the enable, SATA drives seem to
  work fine
- new 64-bit DosFlash edition added called DosFlash64, because some driver
functions don't work as expected in the 32 bit compatibility mode on Windows x64
- Beta state removed
- ready and tested on Windows7 X86 and x64

Geremia/Maximus FreeKey method with DosFlash16
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have added one cmd line parameter for DosFlash16 in manual mode. The COM port
is simply ignored and can have any value for the V2 drives.
Use the following command line to extract your free key from 83850C:
- DosFlash LITEON K 0970 1 inquiry.bin identify.bin key.bin dummy.bin enckey.bin

Tips for running DosFlash on Windows 7
--------------------------------------------------------

Since Windows Vista 64 Bit and upwards it is necessary that every driver is signed. Because
the DosFlash driver will not be signed by MS due to some unknown reason we need to cicumvent
this check. You have the following 2 possibilities to do this.

Safe Way of Disabling Driver Signature Enforcement
1) On Windows 7 bootup press F8 to get to the extended boot options screen
2) Choose "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"
3) To start DosFlash right click on it in Windows Explorer and choose
"Run as administrator" > answer the message box with "Yes"
4) Short after the program started a "Program Compatibility Assistant" warning message
is displayed, you can simply ignore this by pressing the "Close" button

Recommended Way of Disabling Driver Signature Enforcement
1) Disable User Account Control (UAC)
   - go to "Start Menu" > "Control Panel" > "User Accounts and Family Safety" > "User Accounts"
   - click on "Change User Account Control settings"
   - set the slider bar to the lowest value (Never notify) > click "OK"
2) Sign the DosFlash driver
   - download the "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider" (DSEO) from
     http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=dseo
   - start DSEO > click "Next" > "Yes" > choose "Sign a System File" > "Next" > enter the path to
the used driver (portio32.sys or portio64.sys) > "OK" > "OK"
3) Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
   - start DSEO > click "Next" > "Yes" > choose "Enable Test Mode" > "Next" > "OK"
4) Restart the computer

Keep in mind that with the recommended way the changes will have effect on every reboot without
doing anything manual. The first way needs to be done over and over again. In addition the second
way can be used to sign every driver that doesn't run natively on Windows 7.

For use of the VIA Cards in Windows 7 it is recommended to uninstall the VIA driver. This can be
done like follows:
- start "Device Manager" > expand "Storage controllers" > right click on "VIA RAID Controller" >
  choose "Uninstall" > "OK"
- rename C:\Windows\inf\vsmraid.inf to vsmraid.inf_
- rename C:\Windows\inf\vsmraid.PNF to vsmraid.PNF_
- rename C:\Windows\System32\drivers\vsmraid.sys to vsmraid.sys_
- reboot computer

Much respect and credits go to Geremia and Maximus for their money saving FreeKey app

Great work,

Just tried it with a Samsung on Win7 x64 and it works flawlessly.

Have to setup some things, but runs great!

Is there a Portio64.inf file available somewhere too?

So does this mean that we'll probably see a newer version of JungleFlasher later on that works on drives in a x64 OSlike Win 7?

Am I right to assume you can now do the LiteOn v2 without a probe addon using this?

If so, I will try it right now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If you get an xbox repaired it will likely come with the new drive.  MS is replacing the old drives with the new.

Use the following command line to extract your free key from 83850C:
- DosFlash LITEON K 0970 1 inquiry.bin identify.bin key.bin dummy.bin enckey.bin

so once we do that, can we just use the dummy.bin that was generated by dosflash and run it through firmtool to obtain a flashable firmware? (kinda like how it worked with the old liteon drives)?

And we are still erasing the drive completely (with l-o-eras), before flashing, right?

Thank You

I could have lived fine without this feature.
Now it just nags me every time I close it with a yes/no screen.
Is it difficult to add a remember my selection checkbox?  (I love those)

Also my computer doesn't like it when you enable the IDE DVD drive however if I uninstall it and search for new hardware it works fine every time.

Of course its also great to see the new lite-on has been implemented!

Fine work indeed!

Right, they should invent a boot loader that can boot more than one OS on a single computer.
[/sarcasm]

But having a separate modding computer is just so more L33t.
I personally have a separate computer for modding thats not connected to the internet and its out in the cold garage.

That stops me from installing anything not needed on it and I know its going be exactly how I want it when I come to modding another box.

Why not dual boot?
Just use a spare HDD for an x86 OS.

Do more than just dual boot. Use nLite to make a custom WinXP install. I have a 2GB partition with WinXP SP3, VIA Drivers, portio32 and jungleflasher. And have like more than 1 GB free on it. It has none of the XP junk. Nothing more than I need to flash a drive. (I dont even have video drivers, or any other drivers except LAN to get latest jungleflasher if needed.)

My main OS is Win7. But I can boot into WinXP, flash a drive, and go back to Win7 no problems.

a nice feature to add would be rescan the port upon change, because it scans for drives finds my pio burner 0xc080 then stops scanning never scans my via card at all 0xd800 & 0xd880 so basically i have to pull apart my pc disconnect my burner to get it to even see any drive connected to my via card yes i deleted the vsmraid.sys file, and read the read me always do

On ICH5 chipset this version seems to be buggy; didn't work like 1.7 does with any of my drives, but on ICH9 chipset it worked like a dream.

To elaborate on "buggy", I couldn't get a samsung to dump, or a liteon to erase/flash. The same hardware (system with ICH5) has been used constantly with JF with little to no problems, so config/chipset is good. Dosflash 1.7 works better on ICH5, if that helps anyone out.

hello all has anyone tryied this on a bricked dg-16d2s as im one of those who spends hours to get to 72 status and attempt to erase and flash but when it comes to flash it just hangs at "erasing...".  The final step.  i tried on 2 pcs already. 72 status can be achieved but downhill after that.  df16 is what i used 1.7

nevermind samething.  just hangs on erasing...    .  Oh well guess ill jus have to keep playing with it til i guess it just goes.  Question, i can erase with liteon E but not with E. When it does indeed erase with liteon e, it says erasing ok.  Is that suppose to happen or should banks actually show being erased because i dont see that. Otherwise great program.  This drive is just driving me nuts as it should be able to be saved because i can get a 72 status and show winbond and 256kb and info shown up.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

thanx for this dosflash 1.8 What i've done is boot whit floppy in dos , used dosflash16 with command : dosflash16 liteon k c800 1 inquiry.bin identify.bin key.bin dummy.bin enckey.bin and it got all the files saved on my floppy without a problem asking to put the drive whit the door closed half-way for step 1 and i hit yes and after that step 2 it asks to close and eject the door and hit yes when ready so at the end my door was ejected and it read and saved all my info.... After i booted in XP , opened JG 1.65 , loaded the dummy.bin in the source area and in the target put the ixtreme thx1.6 for the liteon 83850c , hit spoof to get the correct key and saved my file on the floppy ( i named it test.bin ) After rebooted in DOS with no com1 connected with the tray of the drive closed,  typed the command L-O-ERAS c800 to get the status ff00 , after typed dosflash , dosflash wants me to resend command to drive , i pressed yes, gives me a status 72 , then i swithed off my drive and on right after and chose the options from the menus to wich ddrive and then W to write and then my file (test.bin) , the process was 3x faster than dosflash 1.7 , plugged the drive back in the console works lilke a charm

many thanx again

Does anybody know the correct cmd line parameters for BenQ drives?
CODE
dosflash e 9000 1 a0 1 1 4 d8 0

results in invalid flash status.
CODE
dosflash w 9000 1 a0 1 1 4 benq_cfw.bin 0

results in it showing writing 4 banks of data to the drive, and gives a successful message. But it actually does not write anything to the drive.

Whats confusing me is that
CODE
dosflash r 9000 1 a0 1 1 4 orig.bin 0

actually dumps the firmware.

I'm not a big user of Dosflash as you know,

BUT I believe you have parameter 6 wrong.... In the Usage this is called [Flash Type]. It is used to select special handling for SST Spi's on Benq. These are very rare and have only appeared on HK replacment drives.
I believe the cmd lines
CODE
dosflash e 9000 1 a0 1 0 4 d8 0

and
CODE
dosflash w 9000 1 a0 1 0 4 benq_cfw.bin 0

should work for you
this parameter would have no relevance on a read.

Hope this helps, but I have not tested it.....

I have done like 3 benqs this month. All of them using jungleflasher 0.64 beta. I guess you can look at the binary and see what command parameters it is using for benq's. You would need to decompile JF or get the sources from Team jungle. BUt yeah ...it's been a while since I did manual command line flashing for the benq's. Last time I did it was back in December 08. And, I flashed ix 1.4 with Dosflash 1.7. Yes, as Podger was saying, there was added an extra parameter for the different flash types of the different vendors. I noticed that while trying to flash a customer's benq. He was outside my place for like an hour. Schtrom switched something from dosflash v1.5 or v1.6 to v1.7.  I don't know when that change occured. Needless, to say it threw me off and made me scratch my head.

I know v1.7 was different from the last time I flashed a drive using previous versions of dosflash. I don't know when it changed though. Either from v1.5-v1.6 it changed or from v1.6--->v1.7. There was only 2 parameters after the "a0" paramenter prior. But, in newer versions of dosflash there was three parameters after the 'a0' parameter. Try changing it as Podger says.
