Hi all,
I got my 360's dvd drive flashed a couple months back to firmware version 1.5, i paid a ridiculous amount of money to this guy to do this and now i decided to go try flashing it myself..
The problem is that i dont have a connectivity kit or a chip or whatever to get the key out of it, but i recall reading that you dont neccesarily need to key to flash it to a newer firmware since it has already been flashed...
Is this information correct? I can't find any topics about it and I really wonder if its right..
I got my xbox opened up already and i can hook it up to the computer easily, but i just need to know if its do-able without getting the key first.. And also wandering how to proceed.., since everyone keeps talking about half-opening-up the tray and stuff.. or is this only to get the key??
Thanks in advance,
bartosie

If you flash your drive without the key then you will need to spend much more money that you paid to get it flashed to replace your console that you will have bricked.
Since it has ix 1.5 you wont need to full connectivity kit but you will still need to read the drives firmware to get the dump files to make a proper ix 1.6 firmware for your drive before you can flash it.
Get the latest Jungle Flasher and click the tutorial link within the program.
-
Just need a sata sable and use the 360 to power the drive, as it's already flashed with 1.5 you can just create a dummy.bin from the drive, follow the JF tutorial.
-
got it hooked up to my clean 32bit vista PC and did the half open tray method BEFORE starting up the PC
i set sata mode from enhanced to compatible and they bios recognized the drive like it should..
the problem im having is that windows loads up REALLLYY slow, like incredibly slow.. even weirder is that whenever i close the tray, things start to speed up again...
anyone know what might be wrong??
my specs:
asus p5q, p45 chipset
intel e8500
vista x86 sp1
jungle flasher doesnt recognize the drive either..

have you read the tutorial and followed the procedures???
have you installed portio
do you have a via card or are u using the sata port on the motherboard
have computer booted up before you turn on the drive abd then run JF
are u selecting the right port in properties
-
install the PORTIO32 drivers...they come with jungleflasher.

yes i installed portio32, it even shows up in the device manager, so i think i should be good on that..
does it matter on what kind of sata slot i put it in? should i set it as a primary master?! or shouldnt that matter?
you serious about letting the computer start up first? before turning on the drive?
that would really help..
im going to try that now..
edit: wow tried that, got the neccesary files, and then pressed Liteon-Erase.. and i got an 0x50 error and it says that device intro failed?!
did i brick my drive?
-
holy shit, i cant get the drive to eject and whenever i turn my xbox on it give me 1 red light..
i really screwed stuff up didnt i
-
I f you have the keys it is fixable need to do in dos or get status 72(sometimes dif )with the correct flash chip stuff showing in right colum in jf or by using dos there be link somewhere on this site how to fix with dos i dont have time at min to look search google fo lite on frozen with le erase i am in somewhat of a rush at he min so this probably makes even less sense then my already hard to understand typing style
I did same s you and fixed mine unplug all ide devices and any usb if it is like my asus then it ill frezze with them pluged in put the jmicron into ide or ahci if that board has that i would guess that i did but i cant be sure without looking on asus site anyways good luck fixing it is reasonabily easy using the robing playground vid..

Jesus man, you're going to confuse him more than he already is!
Find L-O-E.exe [dos based lite on erase program]
find your lite-CFW.bin [the resultant ixtreme v1.6 firmare jungleflasher created for you, or create it again fom the dump files]
find Dosflash v1.7
make a bootable USB thumbvdrive with dos , the above tools, and the lite-CFW.bin on it.
c:> L-O-E.exe [port memory address, e.g. DCF0]
once, powercycle, again, powercycle, again, powercycle, again, now you should have status 72.
powercycle one last time.
c:> Dosflash [enter]
choose the drive by the number.
press w for write [enter]
type lite-CFW.bin [enter]
DONE

yeah i got 4 files from it, but when it was dumping the dummy.bin file it said something that it wasnt loaded correctly and asked if i wanted to continue..
i said yes and it asked me to repair the dummy.bin file.., it needed some kind of barcodes that it was missing or something... i just skipped that and went ahead and tried flashing it, since it finally showed up in JF, so i thought i was good to go!
but then after loading 1.6-repack and going to liteon-erase it gave me that error..
ever since ive been rebooting my pc/switches sata ports but it hasnt been showing up in JF..
i guess ill try & find out how dosflash works..
can i just put my dummy.bin file here, so you guys might see if something is missing ?

sweet im definetly gonna try that, how about the maybe-corrupted dummy.bin, is there any way you guys can check that for me?
-
That's not the issue, where's the lite-cfw.bin that jf tried to flash?
-
here's my JF log:
http://www.gratizwebtoolz.nl/jf.log
and here is my lite-cfw.bin:
http://www.gratizwebtoolz.nl/Lite_CFW.bin
if you give me a go, ill definetly go ahead and try it
thanks for ur help

Looks valid, it's DOS time!

just following this
JF log looks good and your litecfw file looks valid
When u used jf to send the erase did you power cycle the drive
-
yes i did, if by power cycling u mean plugging that annoying little power cable in and out of the drive, then yes, i did
making a bootable usb drive as we speak!
one more question before trying it:
you said something about using this command:
c:> L-O-E.exe [port memory address, e.g. DCF0]
for me that would be L-O-E.exe 0x01F0 right? or just L-O-E.exe 01F0?

L-O-E.exe 01F0
-
wow i must have typed L-E-O.exe 01F0 about 30 times now..
keeps giving me status FF51..
even if i try to enter L-E-O.exe 01F0 right after i put the power connector back in..
anyone got a solution?, ive been reading in other topics that this might have to do with the fact that either the drive is bricked, or its not getting power somehow..
-
can't brick a lite-on.
-
sweeet got it! after restarting and trying a different sata port i finally got ff80 and after powercycling bunch of times i got ff72! woehoe
then i powercycled one more time and wrote the firmware on it..
then i powercycled again and started to test it out.., none of my disks were working though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
after restarting the xbox it started working again; i first tested some old games, then i tried one of the newer wave xbox 360 games (guitar hero metallica); it stil says: play DVD, instead of play Game;
any way to find out for sure if it succesfully flashed to 1.6?
-
QUOTE(bartosie @ May 19 2009, 08:22 AM)

You never said whether originals or pre-wave-3 worked...
hmm, reload the dump files back into jungleflasher, and create the firmware again, then save to thumb, then erase and write again, maybe there was a flaw.
-
yes take a dump of the firmware again but this time tick the box that says get dummy bin only and hit the tab at the bottom that says dummy from ixtreme
then check this to see that your key is in the file
-
yeah they all work fine!
is it true that wave3 games converted back to wave2 games (with ppf-o-magic) arent working with the new 1.6ixtreme firmware?
if so, that might be it.. I think i might have mixed up the two guitar hero metallica cd's (1 wave3 & 1 wave3-converted-to-wave2). One of them is not working and the other one is..
Im downloading a new 360 game to know for sure now..
-
patched that way, def won't work without activate.iso
-
what do you mean?
are the wave3-to-wave2-converted games not working anymore, because i didnt use activate.iso (GOOD!)
or are all the newer wave3 games not working, because i didnt use activate.iso (that would be really BAD)
-

Thats it!

To play wave3-to-wave2-converted games with iX 1.6 you need to first insert a burned copy of activate.iso, then the game you want to play.

You may want to edit some of that out just a small suggestion ..
and if you still have the original iso just reburn em if not you could always "buy" them again or re rip your "owned" games..

X-S is not here to get your pirated games to work.
