Title: My Lite-on Situation. See If Anyone Can Help.

Create the target ixtreme fw in jungleflasher, save it to a bootable dos thumbdrive with LOE and Dosflash.
Use loe in DOS, not a windows command prompt.
C:> loe  (port addy)
Use dosflash to flash the cfw to the drive.    Done  |

backup your thumb drive files.
find the hp format utility, make bootable, then copy files back on.

I formatted the drive using the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool Version 2.0.6 and formatted in FAT32. I hope that works, since one tutorial told me FAT and the other told me FAT32. I copied all the necessary files back onto the flash drive, I'm going to try it now. I'll let you know how it goes, Takashi.

Oh, and by the way does it matter whether or not the thumb drive is in a USB 1.1 or a 2.0(low power[front of computer] or high power[back of computer])?

Put it in the back the drive be usb two so be faster fat 32 will no doubt work ..

sorry half asleep thought it was a external hard drive no it wont matter where stick it
myself i dont even waste time connecting a floopy drive wen i build my computers seems pointless to me ..

Ok I got the computer to be able to boot from the Memorex thumb drive into DOS, but I really don't understand DOS commands very well. That and I don't know exactly how to check what SATA port I'm using, since I don't know how to check their names.

The "bricked lite-on help" post on the top of this forum is very vague on the DOS portion of it. I thought the number of the SATA port was going to be the same one that JungleFlasher had identified it as. Mine was 0x8800 for the VIA card.

Could someone please enlighten me with how to know for sure what number the SATA port will be? And also, do I need to reinstall my VIA drivers?

Run iPrep in windows.
Just get the port addy from it.

Sata Port memory address.
For example, when i run lite-on-erase,
I type...

C:> loe  dcf0

It won't be the same for your pc.

Run iPrep and it will give you your port address is what he means.
Boot to DOS
l-o-eras.exe (port)
you should get FF72 or FF80 status back
type DOSFLASH, hit enter, then turn your drive off then back on
select your port from the list
write to the drive

you might have to power cycle it a couple of times
all this is done with the tray half open

i'm not sure about your drivers

Ok, so I found out its just 8800 for the VIA card port that the Lite-On is plugged into. I typed L-O-Eras 8800 and I got a bunch of different statuses. FFFF, FF7F, stuff like that. I still cannot seem to get status FF72; this is bugging the crap out of me. I just tried it with the VIA drivers installed. Now I'll try it with them uninstalled. Here goes.

Drivers are for windows, you're in DOS.

I never had to type the port # after i typed DOSFLASH, after you type DOSFLASH it should give you a list of ports to select from. You should see, depending on how many devices you have hooked up, all of them listed. If you typed the right port on the l-o-e command, you should see the chip properties of your lite-on, select that one and then select from the list of options it gives you.....write, erase, lite-on keys, etc.
I'm not sure what the difference is between FF80 and FF72, I could never get FF72 and according to the JungleFlasher tutorial, 0x80 is a good return status. The only place i got the 72 was in the chip properties but it still returned with an FF80 in DOS.

Btw, you might want to disconnect ALL other drives.
Sata AND IDE.
Also you need to powercycle the drive after erase.

That's exactly what I was going to say, disconnect all other drives and power cycle it after you erase it.
Takashi, he said he's using DOSFLASH16, would it make a difference which version he's using? I think I've always used 16 also.

Ok, so right now I'm in DOS and I got status FF72 after using L-O-Eras.exe and afterwards I power cycled the drive. I typed dosflash by itself after I removed all other sata and ide devices. It wrote bank 0, 1, 2, and 3. I think it worked correctly!

Time to test a backup. Hurray. Thank you. I'll let you know.

Everything works great. I've only burnt one back-up so far, and thats Skate 2.

I updated the xbox live and everything, but I'm a little nervous to log in to EA's thing on the game, is that safe to do?
