Title: 'open Tray' Error On Liteon Flashed Drive
Post by: uneasyrider on April 07, 2009, 12:41:00 AM
Tonight I went to flash a Liteon drive with Ixtreme 1.51 via Jungle Flasher.  I have flashed several drives with this same exact setup... Liteon drive > VIA 6421A SATA Card > ck3 kit with Probe.  Everything went smooth with this flash... I got 72's and everything looked normal.  But now every disc I put in is getting an 'Open Tray' error.  The 360 recognizes when the drive is open and close... but when it goes to read the disc, it goes straight back to 'open tray'.  It gives the error also with regular games, not just burned backups.

Below is my JF log file.  Someone please help!!

Wrong dvd key is copied to your CFW : 55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA.
Open dummy.bin with JF again and use the right dvd key : 75DD8F9FE1839B50E6A1CA1E353885AA.

Also make sure that your sata cable from the console is plugged in properly to your drive after the flash is done !

That dvd key is not copied to the firmware, it is the dvd key that was in the ixtreme firmware file before jungle flasher spoofed the new one... as far as fixing the issue try rebuilding the custom firmware with your id files and then erase the drive and reflash (make sure you try a different sata cable as that may be the culprit... and like arjunanand1 said, make sure the sata cable and the power cables from the xbox 360 to your dvd drive are plugged in correctly!

Thanks for the help & responses guys.  I'm gonna give it another shot when I get home.  I think the issue is that I was doing an autoload on the Ixtreme firmware.  I did the spoof to where it put the real drive key into the new hacked firmware, but I think it reloaded the firmware and reset it back to 55aa before I erased and flashed.

Hopefully it will work this time.

Well, yeah his log seems contradictory, see the final part, it somehow got the default ixtreme key back into the hacked firmware. Anyway, he has his original key so even if the drive is bricked he can spoof it over to another one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).

You just forgot to spoof the key to the ix151.bin or w/e it is...

Post by: uneasyrider on April 08, 2009, 12:13:00 AM
Alright I'm about to rack my brain here... I've tried just about everything possible and every combination of flashing I know.  I'm still getting the 'open tray' message.  I haven't ran into any errors at any time, everything looks to be running as normal.

As far as not spoofing the ixtreme firmware with the correct key... Jungle Flasher does this for you.  You'll see that it brings in the source file (dummy.bin) with the correct key.  Then copies the strings and keys to target source (ixtreme-liteon).  The 55AA key is the default key that the firmware comes with, and the string copy should overwrite that.  It then saves that file to Lite_CFW.bin and set that as the target.  Then I erase, then Write, then Send Outro.

I've tried manual spoofing, but I'm getting the same exact thing every time.  Is my DVD drive trashed??  Should I replace with a Samsung??  I'm about to pull my hair out.

Here's the latest log file.  Pay attention to the part about the key getting copied from source to target then setting the saved firmware as target.  That should keep the 55aa key from getting set.  Besides, when I pull the key again, it's pulling the correct one so I know it's set right.

use dosflash and flash the new firmware from dos...
key looks valid and is being copied to the new firmware so its possibly a driver/data corruption issue causing a bad flash maybe.

is the laser working?, laser diodes are extremely static sensitive and one zap can kill them, check the ribbon cables in the drive as well for any sign of damage

if you have another drive about or can borrow one try that too.

well, you are not alone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) this problem still doesn't have a solution and even can't be explained (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Still you can replace Lite on with Samsung dvd-rom (like I did) or change the laser (as the others did) - it looks like benq laser fits it

one of the main topics for this problem:
