Figured I ask I dont have much time to scour the forum so sorry if this could be a redundant post but I just want to know if my drive is still workable. Now I flashed my liteon drive with my via card earlier this week and follow the directions to the word and everything worked out great. Now doing a friends drive the same exact way and when it came down to write the firmware my computer freezes and now the drive doesnt do anything. Does not eject at all. I was able to get the Key and everything else but in Jungleflasher i get to the point of writing or device id my computer completely locks up.
So my question whats causing my computer to completely lock up? Any other way to flash this drive to get it to work or did i brick the drive. Thanks for anybody who is out there listening.
1> The drive is not bricked. It will not eject because there is no firmware.
2> Your windows is locking up because it has issues...I had the same problem.
Solution is to create a bootable flashdrive/CD and boot to dos...Then use L-O-ERAS.exe and DosFlash16 to do the work.

i've got the same problem, using my VIA onboard SATA.
Was able to extract the key/inq/ident but then got the same freezing issue during the erase, now i am unable to get the drive tray ejected (im using a CK3).
Again another windows issue once the firmware is semi/fully erased. There is no firmware or only a partial firmware on the drive hence the no eject. The firmware passes the instructions to the drive to eject. If it's not there the drive will not eject.

When attempting to use l-o-eras.exe i get FF7F all the time
have you tried booting to dos with the drive on....Then try l-o-eras.exe SATAPORT about 10 or 15 times. If you get no xx72 then disconnect power from the drive, wait 5 seconds, then reconnect the power. Resend the l-o-eras.exe SATAPORT command another 10 times or until you get xx72.
Once erased use dosflash.exe and the W option to flash it.

Does the drive tray have to be half open when erasing/writing aswell as reading? If so how can i get the drive tray out when CK3 doesn't work?
No only needs to be in half open state when reading the key.

genius!
after 15 times of nothing, powered off for 5 seconds as suggested and back on. 3 or 4 times later the beloved FF72, so its written the firmware now and brought the thing back to life!

Hahaha. Did you write the firmware with Dosflash now that you finally got it erased?
