Title: 9/2008 Xbox 360, Can I Mod It?

Hello,

Great forums!  

I just bought a X360 in 9/2008.  I took the front cover off of it and I can see 2 white wires below the DVD tray.  Is this a BENQ Drive?  Can I mod it with the firmware mod?  I found a Total Noob Tutorial that is really good that utilizes dosflash and usb thumb drive.

If I can mod it can I use it with XLive?  I mean, if I backup a game and don't ever want to play it on XLive am I ok?  I would only play XLive with my originals.

The BenQ drive can be modded, the Lite-On cannot.

It is doubtful that it is modifiable in its current state. BenQ's stopped shipping with the Xbox's in june, look for an xbox with a 3/2008 manufacture date.
