Title: Strange Hitachi 47dj Behavior...
Post by: k2kevin on October 09, 2008, 07:28:00 PM
First off I apologize if this post is in the wrong forum, it seems there's a lot of similar post to mine so I went ahead and decided to post it.

I recently flashed my Hitachi 47dj with Firmware Toolbox 4.8. Everything was working fine then I got a e64 error. My drive could still open but I kept getting a e64. Occasionally it'll work again if I boot without the hard drive.  So I reflashed it again (did a restore flash, then patch flash) and got it working again. But it seems that the minute I get a dirty disc error, I turn off and turn back on and I'm greeted with the bloody e64 error again (and my drive still opens so I didn't brick it).

Can anyone help me? It's detected in my BIOS and I can go into mode B with a Slax cd no problem. Am I flashing it wrong? (I've gone through dozens tutorials on the net).

Update!

Found the source of my problem.... turns out that short black SATA cable inside the 360 was faulty. If I had my DVD drive out of the case it would work, but the minute I put it back inside the case it would E64. I guess the wire inside the cable split and would only work if it was stretched a certain way.

I replaced it with a standard PC SATA cable and it works flawlessly. Thought I should mention it incase anyone searches the forums for a similar problem.

Cheers,
Kevin
