Title: Spoof From Benq --> Samsung
Post by: ghaladream on October 09, 2008, 11:08:00 AM
Sorry if this has been asked before...My 360 has a BENQ drive, but I ordered an MS28 because the BENQ drive sucks at reading backups (slow load times, originals don't always boot right away). Anyhow, I have my benq-ofw.bin. Is it a better idea to spoof from Benq --> Samsung using firmtool 1.2 or FWtoolbox? The reason I ask is because if I use firmtool, then load the spoofed sammy firmware in FWtoolbox, it has a bunch of strange "ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ" characters after the firmware version string, and the drive key shows as being wrong. However if I spoof using FWtoolbox, then it shows the key as being correct and it says " * * DRIVE SPOOFED AS XXXXXX ** "

I've read that for BENQ drives it's better to use firmtool but I'm not sure now because of these strange things. Anyone know the answer?
