I am having trouble spoofing my ms28 drive to appear as the old 0078fk drive that was in my 360. I backed up the FW from the hitachi drive.. before i bricked it.
I was using the Fwtoolbox to take the key from the hitachi fw, copy and paste it on ixtreme 1.4 samsung fw and save. Then I mounted it with iprep version 6.002. I booted up with my pc with that, it appeared to flash correctly updating several banks. But now won't read any xbox 360 dvds. So something went wrong. I have a via sata-150 non raid card that usually gives me no problems flashing a ms28 drive with updated firmware(not spoofing). Am I doing something wrong? I've been searching around and I don't see anything specific to this. I see alot of spoofing between hitachi versions. RIght now if I try to dump my fw it won't read it because its only setup for samsung or benq drives. So I assume the spoof worked.

Did you spoof it? You mention spoofing but I'm not clear on if you actually did it or not. You know what spoofing is right? I'm not trying to be condescending, your post is just very confusing to read.
