Okay... from reading up on it a bit.. if I install a Blaster 360, and get the USB connectivity kit.. will i still need to connect to my PC's internal SATA card for flashing the DVD firmware??
Or is there some new program by now that allows USB connectivity to PC, to access DVD drive and flash??
I'm tired of tearing open my PC's side panel, and putting my exposed 360 right next to it for flashing and reading of the key every time.. =/ Not to mention that I keep running the risk of zapping my console if i don't ground it properly.. ~_~

If I'm not mistaken the Blaster is used as an updater, long before the MIGHTY ix1.4 FW there were many updates and the blaster made these updates a breeze as you only had to open your xbox case once to install it and after that any update could be done via the, now thanks to the Blaster, external SATA port(it also has a convenient modeB switch so no need for slax).
As for X360 USB, I have never heard of anyone using this for flashing a drive. I believe that is the opposite of what you want.
I SUGGEST...
Connectivity Kit V2 (generic but the same) - $16
This will adapt the xbox stlye power plug into a regular old 4pin equipped with eject and modeB buttons
Long SATA cable - $5
This is so you don't have to set the drive right next to the computer, with this SATA cable you got A LOT of play to move about.
External Power Supply (4pin power plug) - $6
This is to plug into the connectivity piece for power. You don't want to use your PC to power it because when you need to power off and on (BenQ, Samsung) it makes it drastically easier.
Grand Total=$27 shipped
Hope that Helped

So with those suggestions of yours... will I just need to take out the whole dvd drive, and won't need the 360 chasis/mobo to do the powering on/off process??
So if im thinkin correctly, all I'll need is the dvd drive to hookup to my PC without anything else.. hmm, this would reduce the risk of frying anything alot more..

Right, just the drive. Now you will use the power supply to do all the powering on and off instead of the xbox. This is what I have and it is tremendously easier than all the other nonsense!
The links I supplied are all auctions on eBay, as I find this is the cheapest way to go, but the auctions WILL expire.
