``This post is for every moderator in this forum to check out. There has been a case where someone sent their Xbox360 in to MS after suffering the 3ROD. Well they were so ignorant and anxious that they forgot to re-flash the firmware back to its original state. My question is will MS take that FW and study it to come up with some kind of detection for it later on every console that contains it? It seems that every time new backup is placed into my console; there is a sudden need for an update which you must agree to or else.
``Instead of that stupid person sending the console back to whom ever flashed it; they sent it off to MS and now we all must sit back and wait to see if they will examine the FW or not......hope not though. If there's any Moderator which can assure the community that we have nothing to worry about that would be great. Please guys post what you think on this situation for I am in such a panic mode right now that it's not even funny (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)
If MS already knows about the Xtreme FW please post what they intend to do or if they've elaborated concerning the issue.
Thanks everyone who is concerned with this.

firmware is readily available for download ms can just dl it if they want

uhhhh dumbass.. MS already has the firmware.. in all likelihood the modified firmware was secretly condoned by MS to sell more consoles. They will utterly deny that claim, but it's probably quite true.
If MS really wanted to prevent tampering of the firmware on the DVD drives, they would have used a write once ROM chip that couldn't have ever been flashed to with modified firmware. They left the door open for a class of people to exploit because they knew it would lead to more hardware sales... it always does..
I personally don't give a shit if modifying a 360 with firmware is illegal or violates the EULA. They use slave labor to build their precious gaming consoles in Communist China. The game developers still get paid for their hard work no matter how many copies of a game title are lost to piracy. Most of the video games these days are paid for by huge slush funds from the government and military industrial complex. I have yet to see a homeless game developer because someone copied a game....
as for sending a RROD to MS for repair with modified firmware. Having sent two consoles myself to MS for the RROD, 99% of the time, you don't get the same console back. They have a refurb console that they flash with your serial number and send it back to you generally with a different DVD drive.
from what I have heard, thousands of RROD consoles are received each day that the repair facilities and they just do a swap out. That's why in most cases you get a console back in a week.
in ending.. I wouldn't sweat it.. MS has the firmware.. probably helped in it's tweaking...

To think that MS doesn't have a copy of any modified firmware on the day that it is released, is naive to say the least.
If they are able to detect it, they will, and will already have done so. How they choose to act on it is up to them.
The risks are known when you open your box, take the risk or don't, that choice is yours.
Discussions regarding the returning of flashed/opened consoles for a warranty repair, are not permitted on these forums, as its is fraud. Call it hypocritical if you will, that is policy. If you don't like it, then see ya.
