Title: 0047dh Wont Recognize On Post?

Just got a system back from MS (RROD).. system is dated 2-08 but the drive inside is a 0047dh manufactured in 2005.. I cannot get this thing to recognize on boot for the life of me, tried both intel sata and rosewill sata card..  connectivity kit and straight through.. Board reveals that theres no black epoxy on the SST. Im lost.. any help would be appreciated.

47's are troublesome beasts. They refuse to work with the old faithful via6421... They work with Sil3112 and Nforce4 and also with My USB2Sata adapter....

After much fustration I was able to get it flashed on a Nforce4 based chipset, 2 wire (1k resistor), and windows xp. No luck with via or intel chipset on vista 32bit.. oddly enough FW toolbox wouldnt work at all.

have you tried to percivere with slax i have booted a few of these drives into modeb no prob with my 6421 card if not as you say the epoxy is removed just mod the thing but like i say i would keep trying slax or grab a loan of another pc
