make sure you have the sata cable plugged into the internal port of the sata card , the one nearest to the front of the pc

I tried both, the back and the one inside but it still didn't work.

0x7F just means nothing there, as the drive is off at this stage, this is the correct status....

if this is 2 port card it's possible port 0 ain't there, which is the one iPrep configures....look at this post
