Title: Kreon Sh-d163b V1.0 Not Working
Post by: jivemm on January 17, 2008, 11:38:00 PM
I have a new SH-D163B drive, firmware version SB01.

Trying to update it with Kreon's SH-D163B_SB01_KREON_V100 firmware but when using the provided sfdnwin tool it says "This firmware is not compatible with the selected drive" etc

I have had no problems updating the SH-D162C, and SH-D162D drives with Kreon's firmware.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of a solution.

I have noticed in Kreon's NFO for the firmware that he says to select the drive (TSSTcorpDVD-ROM SH-D163BSB00) - ephasis being on the SB00 when it should read SB01.

If the firmware BIN file has reference to SB00 instead of SB01 - is there any way to change this. I have no idea how to read/edit a BIN file.

I normally find solutions myself through research but can find nothing out there on this problem. Crossing my fingers someone out there will respond.

Thanks in advance...

According to "The Firmware Page" SB01 is new, it's probably a bug fix or something...

Follow the link below for info

You can probably use the sfdnwin.exe with the " -nocheck" option to bypass the check

Create a shortcut to sfdnwin and then edit the shortcut and add " -nocheck" to the command line, then click the shortcut......

Thanks so much for the repsonse... however hasn't worked. Adding -nocheck to the command line of a shortcut to the program still had the same result when trying to open kreon's firmware.

Any other ideas... anyone??

I'm surprised...

Did you get the no check warning box???? After you launched it... You have to click Ok to proceed.

try

>Start > Run
then type C:\~\sfdnwin.exe -nocheck

replace tilda with your path
