I just recently bought a xbox arcade bundle and it came with a Hitachi 0079FL. I have 2 other 360's, one with a samsung th-h943 and a hitachi v47 If i remember correctly. My question is, is there any way to swap the 0079 with one of these other drives without having to install the passkey to get the firmware off the 0079? From the research I've done so far, it's not looking promising. I figured maybe someone out there knows something I dont.

Nope.  First step in using another drive in your 360 is to get the DVD key from your existing drive.  This requires a passkey (or TSOP removal) for the 0079.

If you wait until the new infectus chip comes out it supposedly allows you to change the dvd key on the board yet that still requires hardware modification.

OK thanks for the replies, I didnt think there was a way, but I thought I'd ask anyways.

Anyone know a good modder in Canada they can recommend? I'm not willing to take the risk of soldering it in myself. I just dont have the patience.
