Title: Problem Dumping Sammy Ms28
Post by: nate_n8 on December 10, 2007, 06:53:00 PM
I have a brand new 360 that has the ms28 drive. I'm trying to put the new ixtreme 1.4 firmware onto it using iprep. I have the pci VT6421 card (which Ive used to flash a benq successfully). when using the iDump command, I see the Xtreme and do the 10 sec trick. however it stays stuck at Reading...(00%) and my 360's led flashing. so I power down and start over but still this happens. I originally was using the NTFS4DOS method but also tried using a floppy. either method does the same thing. does anyone have any thoughts???

Thanks

if u using iprep to make 1.4 xtreme... does not create iDump msdos file creates dSam presume that what u got to use.

then u also have fSam for flashing rSam presume thats for reading !!!

I am in the same boat as u ! recently purchased 360 wid ms28 drive... done a benq drive few weeks ago ..also done a hitachi drivers ...

im a little bit confused though

iprep creates files ...then u need to add dosflash 13 to ur usbstick like how i did with benq drive

DosFla~1  r .....( ur pci 6412 card number).... 1 a0 1 4 c:\orig.bin 1 .... can you that for ms28 or just for benq drive

or this way rSam 1234567 12345 for (bad method way)

creating ixtreme.bin from 1.4 in pc put that onto usb

then fSam 1234567 12345..

job done

Dosflash or ReadSam for MS28 ???????????

When you type the dump command, there should be a message saying "Reading drives" just before the list of drives is displayed. You turn the Xbox off just as that message is diplayed, select the Xtreme drive then turn the Xbox back on and it should read. Do the same thing for flashing.

you miught need to wait 3 to 10 secs before turning on the 360 again, 1 of my drives take 10 seconds the other takes 3.

ok i made several attempts today again and it still stays stuck on Reading... (00%). I know this xbox works because today i played Perfect Dark Zero (store bought). well after searching for an answer, i read that someone was able to read and flash using the benq DOSFLASH method. so i attempted to do the same but again it stays stuck on Reading Bank 0...  Is the firmware locked or something?

Hi, my first post; so hi everyone.

I was having a huge problem too, flashing my ms28 using Iprep , xbm etc. Basically I ended up with a copy of my firmware (thank god) but a half flashed ms28. No eject, constant flashing centre light and an E65 error when starting.

For some reason I couldn't get it to flash using the 10 sec method and was just about to send it to a shop for them to do it. when I heard about dosflash and thought I'd give it a go.

last night I managed to write the latest xtreme fw on the 3rd attempt using a slightly different method. This may work for you or you may see something your have forgotten.

1. Vt6421a sata card
2. DVD write (it has a mediatech chip)
3. new sata cable
4. dosflash

Installed the vt6421a card and connected my pc dvd write to the ide of the card.
Plugged the 360 dvd to the sata 1 port (should be an internal...look at the card..should say a 1 next to it)

boot to bios and disable anything that mentioned sata. Also I have a P5BVM so disabled the Jmicron sata/pata. My dvd is now connected to my vt6421a card

Using my old xbm boot disk, boot to dos
start 360
run dosflash and follow the instructions.

At the first option to say yes, pick *Yes* turn off xbox and restart
it will show that it has seen your drive, but encountered a problem "do you want to resend etc*"
This time pick *NO*

Now at this point on two earlier attempts, nothing more happened. on the third time, it proceeded to ask me what I want to do " W-write R-read E-erase. I picked Write and typed in my new bin file name when asked.
It then went off and worte the firmware.

Now, Im not sure why I couldn't get mtkflash to work as I was doing the same first steps.. I guess I just can't count correctly. I hope this may be of some use to you. I've noticed, I haven't same the version of dosflash I used....I can't remember and will have to check it tonight. If anyone wants to ask me anything regarding this, just PM me.

Hope this helps

Rob
