I have a 59DJ that my mates brought back to me. I had put an older non Ixtreme firmware on it some time ago (probably 2.3), and he wanted it updating to the latest Ixtreme so he could go on live.
As per the guide, and others I have done, I got it into modeB using Slax no problem, drive was visible in windows, and if you put a dvd in, the folder structure opens up etc etc. I then ran restore.bat from within the iXtreme-HitachiAll-RTMv3 folder, it prompted me as usual for the drive letter, and then it comes back with an error saying the drive is not responding to the restore, and suggests things like closing down applications, safe mode etc etc.
I ran the manual dos commands that extract the key and the current installed firmware, and it does read the values into bin files no problem, so drive communication isnt an issue I wouldnt have thought.
Im not sure if I can go ahead and just flash Ixtreme over it without doing the restore (and even if that would work), and am wary of trying it to be honest, in case I kill it.
The drive still works and boots all disks, but is obviously not live safe.
Anyone offer any suggestions ?

with the batch files, you do not need a dvd/game in the tray.
Have you tried a differential flash with toolbox already? (if you have the original firmware by hand that is)
if you do not have an original hitachi 59 firmware, pm me your e-mailaddress and i can send you one. All you have to do is replace the key and do a differential flash with the original firmware in toolbox 4.5
After that it should be restored and act like an original
and when that;s done, flash it with the Hitachi iXtreme 1.2r2
btw, keep in mind there will be a hitachi 1.3 soon (no eta, so i do not know when, but my guess is a couple of weeks at most)
