1. dump orig.bin
2. make ixtreme.bin
3. erase original firmware on your Xbox360, DO NOT TURN OFF CONSOLE
4. write ixtreme.bin
Now you have to do RECOVERY MODE

You can turn it off after erasing, I have...numerous times. The error here was that the drive wasn't erased before flashing with the hacked firmware which resulted in numerous write errors. Now that the firmware is corrupted it will not respond to normal commands.
I don't know of a way to recover it from this stage. Theoretically you could de-solder the tsop and flash it manually.
edit: guess I should have refreshed. Just do what Stuntman showed.

maybe this will help (I use 6421A card and this is how I do it
1. Read firmware just like all tutorials
2. boot into windows and patched firmware in windows
3. boot again with cd now do erase code
4. now do write code
if you dont erase will always give you errors after flash just redo the flashing is all
I'm assuming you still have original bin and the benq-ix,bin in same place as it was suppose to be
so these should be your steps
reboot with ntfscd, floppy or usb whichever you used
1. use erase code
2. then use right code
drive isnt bricked as my first one I did same thing you did and after this drive worked perfect

yes you can shutdown drive after anything erase flash and write you have to or it will just hang until you do shut it down shut it down for 2 secs like readme says and you will be fine.
