Title: Modding To Play Games Off Hard Drive
Post by: xboxxer007 on November 04, 2007, 10:21:00 AM
Hey everyone,

I have had my Xbox 360 returned 4 times to get repaired and everytime I get a replacement sent back its broken in some way (ex. 3 flashing red lights, does not boot up, does not power on, etc...)

The recent one I got back works but the CD-Rom is so damn loud I can hear it from any room of my house - no joke.

I'm tired of sending my xbox back to get repaired. I finally have been able to play my xbox since I haven't had a working one since June. (4 returns * 5 to 7 weeks to wait for the replacement).

Is it possible to mod my Xbox so I can play my games off a HD? Or, is it only possible to get a mod chip that allows you to play backup cds?

I would like to get the Blaster 360 NE but I didn't know if it allows you to play games off a HD.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance for your help!

No, at present there is no way to play games off the hard drive at all.  It'll likely be a while before it's possible too.

Alright fair enough.

So the Blaster 360 only allows you to play games copied to a dvd? Does it allow you to change the dvd drive in the xbox?

I think you need to do a whole lot of reading. It sounds to me that you are under the impression that a Blaster 360 will allow you to play backups am I correct? All the blaster 360 does is make it easier to firmware mod some drives. The blaster 360 alone will not do this. You will have to do a regular firmware mod on your drive to do this.

And if you wish to change your DVD drive you will need to extract the firmware from your current drive to get the drive key and spoof/flash your replacement drive.

Start by reading the tons of good information found in the tutorials on this site.

you didn't mention your drive, but there are some quiet firmwares available for BenQ and Samsung
