i have the via vt6421a on my p5w dh deluxe-asus mobo.  also have the blaster360 next edition installed on the 360. I’m using the “textbook” tutorial for the ms28 drive.  I used iprep and ixtreme v1.2c to make the usb boot.  I got it to read my drive so I tried the 10sec trick.  First I did idump…it didn’t show any banks being flashed just said 0% and froze. I tried it again and it said backup already made. So I thought awesome it must be working. So I tried Iflash…did the 10sec trick again like the tutorial said and it said something about erasing something then froze. It never showed any banks being flashed from 0-100%.  So now im getting error e65. And the 10sec trick wont work. I looked on the usb under backups and there is a file with my serial #.inside there is a bin file labeled HACKED its 256kb. Any help would be great.  Or if you could do it for me for a fee that would be even better I just want it to work!

Try to connect the drive directly (so without the blaster)

E65: DVD Drive Error.... DVD Timeout, Wrong firmware, dvd is without f/w chip, etc. Was there not a file called ORIG.bin in the folder as well?

iPrep backed up my orignal drives firmware as well as the hacked one when i typed iDump.

Don't loose that backup whatever you do, and I agree disconnect the Blaster360 and see what happens.

do you use the INTERNAL connector on the via card? If not that might be the solution

my via card dosn't have an external connetor. it is a raid controller card with two sata and 1 ide all internal. Im in port 1. the one closest to the front of my pc.

that should be the correct port to connect the dvddrive to!

What I would do first is check there is the orig.bin on the usb, if there is then reflash with the original firmware. Then run iPrep again, set it up for iXtreme and choose the via card etc. make the entire usb again and retry. (Personally I keep the force list ticked aswell as tell it to use the VIA card)

iDump wont show banks, it goes from 0-100% a few times then says it's done.
iFlash it and cycle the power (10 sec trick) and it should flash it with no problems, all 4 banks, then say done reboot PC etc.

As long as your 360 is powered and connected to the PC when you boot from USB iDump/iFlash should both have the option of XTREME, at least in my experiences it has.

Ai, that sucks

Try to dump the firmware! And load it into toolbox. Hopefully you still have a dvd-key, otherwise you have created a new dvd-player

I hope I'm wrong, but I think you've unfortunately destroyed your 360.

O my gosh make a backup of that serial now.  Don't just leave it on your thumb drive!  I've got a bricked drive because someone put the thumb drive somewhere else and it got formatted.

You can't actually kill an MS28 (its hard) with a bad flash as long as you have that key!  Probably your SATA controller on your PC is having trouble recognizing the drive.

Every console from M$ has the rom locked with a unique key. To recreate it has 16! possibilities so just buying another a ms28 is futile. E65 is generally corrupt f/w. If the message u saw is erasing There is a chance it might have happened. Find someone with a programmer or NF3 mobo to get any code off the flash. May be the erasing might have not been complete and the key might be still there. PM me if u cannot find anyone to do this for u. cool.gif   :

okay..but how is it i replaced my faulty hitachi 47 with a brand new hitachi 47 without spoofing.. i just disconnected sata and plugged it in !?!?!

it works with hitachi same fw - same fw

but not ms28 - ms28 ??

If u check all the post of lost keys all the console have become boat  anchors. Have heard of rumours that some consoles that leave the factory are left in a state that they can lock in a virgin drive. Personally would like to lay my hands on one. U could be one of the lucky ones. Why don't u try and put in a sammy and see what happens.

Hi! I just talked to a few of my friends.. they all claim you can use the same drive as long as the original motherboard had the same fw dvdrom, and you cant downgrade

Example: orginal 360 hitachi 47 can be replaced with a 47 or 59/78 (no spoofing required)

BUT a 59 cant be replaced with a 47 (downgrading)

hitachi 47 replace with a samsung ms28 (spoofing required)

Or im I wrong?

Im getting confused here  unsure.gif

My friends keep telling me you can replace an ms28 with a new ms28 or hitachi 47 with a new 47 or 59/78/79  unsure.gif  unsure.gif

You're getting confused because spoofing has nothing to do with the key.

Spoofing means editing the firmware to tell the 360 "hey, I'm actually a xxx drive."  If you are replacing the drive with the same model, and the replacement has the same or newer firmware version, then you do not need to spoof.  If you are downgrading the firmware, or if you are replacing one model with another, then you do need to spoof.  Like replacing a BenQ with a Samsung...the Samsung firmware has to be edited so that the 360 thinks it's a BenQ.

Your firmware also has to contain your 360's unique key.  This is how the 360 authenticates games.  Without the valid key, your 360 is merely a DVD player.  So if you ever do anything to lose that key, you're screwed.

This happens when someone flashes their drive without first backing up the current firmware, or when someone goes through iDump/iFlash a couple of times with errors and manages to erase their orig.bin in the process.

If that still leaves you confused, then consider yourself lucky and don't ever try to do any of this on your own.

Thanks for the info dude... but that also means im correct.. if you lose the key to your original samsung ms28 you can buy a new drive and use it on your motherboard right?

Well that drive will be bricked, but couldn't you just get a new drive? Like in the authors case get a new ms28 ???

Thanks again!

You arent listening at all why are you bothering to make a post of you know it all. (according to yourself) you can replace any bad drive with any other drive as long as you have your ORIGINAL KEY. no original key you have a working dvd player. here is a good link for you http://www.albinobla...m/flash/posting

I wasn't aware my post came out like that.. like I know "evrything"... the reason why im asking all these questions is because i DONT know the answer if you can replace a drive or not.

I'm just confused... lets say your ms28 gets bricked.. why cant you just get another ms28 and use it in your 360?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say either.. you forgot to use punctuation in some areas... are you quoting me or did you reply to my questions?

Let's say you loose the key for an ms28 drive on your 360, i assume that drive is bricked... why cant i just get another drive (ms28) and use it?

Sorry I worded my recent post wrong... that wasn't my intention at all  unsure.gif

Dude, read some stickies!

If your drive is bricked, you can replace it with ANY other drive that runs hacked firmware!

BUT (and this is the MOST important thing!)

You NEED to HAVE the original dvd-key that was stored on your drive that came with the xbox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that key links the drive to the xbox

If you do not have that key, then you turned your xbox in an expensive home-dvdplayer!

an MS28 is detected as an ms28 but the key is the missing link. let's say you want to replace it with a hitachi 59dj, you need to spoof that hitachi as an MS28 (otherwise E65 error) AND you need to put the right dvd-key in the firmware (otherwise you cannot play games)

hopefully this makes all things clear

Not to take anything away from cypher21, but he didn't tell you anything I or others had already said several times.  Pepelepe, you are one of the densest douchebags I've ever seen on these boards.

Sorry...I just couldn't help myself.
