hey gurus out their , i managed to dump the Retail Benq VAD6038 - JUNE 2007 firmware from the drive , using a external programmer , everything is fine , size etc etc , but when i load it into toolbox v4.0 i get error saying unknowen make blah blah , so when i check in hex offset @C020, the key section appears to be encrypted , if i can some how decrypt this firmware ill be able to retreive the key , any help would be appreciated , plz add me to messenger for a chat if you have any ideas [email protected]

struth , i am in the same situation as you duckman. there should be some kind of tutorial or tool to extract the key.

Firmware Toolbox 4.0 is suppost to read the .bin file and show you the key.
hmmmm
try changin the voltage on your programer for that chip, and every dump, check if Toolbox responds.
3.3v, 5.0v (don't go too high or blow the chip, you may also check by using a voltage meter while your drive is powered on, and see what it uses)
If you are aware of this, than there's nothing I can think of.

If FW TB doesn't read it, you can open it with a hex editor and check lines 4000-4400 (I think lol, double check that before you do) and that should be your dvd's key.

nope key is not their , and increacing the voltage did nothing , my dump is ok it just M$ who have put the key in a diffrent location , maximus is working on rewriting the toolbox to support it , as he has a copy of my dump

I have edited two posts in this thread. There is to be no offers or requests of drive dumps on X-S as this is MS copywritten code.
