Dump the firmware, get the key with maximus firmware toolbox 4.0 and patch the key to "53d-ms25.bin" that you can find in extreme 5.3 folder.

dump the ms28 and flash the ms09 with it.

if you got it from eBay its probably already got a hacked firmware on it just FYI.

p.s. all the samsung drives found in 360s are identical hardware wise the only thing different is the version of the firmware witch changes nothing about how you flash the drive. (other then tricks to get around M$ definitions)

that's a problem with hacked firmware, you might need to replace the laser or at least clean it, remember that ms09 is the oldest drive there is, they haven't been in consoles since launch.

ok i dumped the firmware on ms25 with iprep and then went to flash the ms09 with the hacked one that was made(which was ixtreme1.2b). the flash then instantly failed, but  now the drive seems to be locked. the light just flashes rapidly on the 360 and it will not eject or do anything. also when i plug the 360s sata cable back in i get a red light in the 4th quadrant. so yeah i am fairly sure hope is lost i cant figure out what i did wrong. this is the first box thats given me any grief.

Something a slightly similar happened to me today.  I was just flashing a MS25.  Really it said MS22 and a MS25 was on top of that.  I flashed it to 5.3a and originals work, but backups didn't.  Then I tried to go to ixtreme 1.0 (yes I know it's old) and my PC cut off halfway through the 1st bank.  The DVD drive no longer responsed and it gave a lower right red light when connected to the 360.  I tried the 10 second trick and that didn't work.  Then I tried flashing it like it was a MS25 and it went right ahead is working fine now.
