Unusual request but we require Hitachi 079 Firmware dumps. If you have one could you please send it to admin /AT/ team-xecuter.com
As far as we know there are 4 different firmwares where the drive key starts at: 4B00, 4C30, 4D20 and 4E10
We have the 4B00 but need the others - many thanks

I've just been hit with about 200 emails asking why we want the Hitachi 079 firmwares lol
Well first stop sending emails if you are not sending me the firmware - thanks

OK, well we have made a mod that completely converts the Hitachi 079 drive so that it switches to modeb (no SLAX needed) and all read / write capabilities are operational in Windows using Maximus Toolbox etc (Hopefully Maximus will now add USB support to his app for the 078 / 079 drives now as that would be perfect). This mod does NOT hack the drive so you can boot backups. We feel that any kind of hardware mod to do that is a waste of time now so it is best to update to the latest firmwares via flashing - which you currently cannot do with the Hitachi 079 (until now of course)

We are missing a couple of firmwares, but as soon as we get those will only take a few hours to finish and the mod will be ready to ship (we used the same design as our old X78 mod however that never shipped as there wasn't much point in the end).

Thanks goto Gary OPA, C4EVA & Maximus for their efforts and contributions.

Part of me wants to say that this is great news for 78/79 owners, and part of me wants to say that they're a business asking for firmware, which always falls under the 'might be illegal' catagory (tho only by a smigen). tongue.gif

 Seriously, tho, that's pretty cool.

Time and time again, team Xecuter has proven themselves to be a vital part to the console community. I am in no way surprised to see something out from them and look forward to trying it out. Im sure a cheap Xeno version will be out as per usual... But i always buy Xecuter anyway... Thanks again Guys. Keep up the good work.

Come on guys one rule for all would be good...I say drop the crappy rule about asking for firmware, or remove this entire thread, as it does not comply

This wasnt posted as a firmware request... merely to let us know about the x79 that is coming out that im sure many will want/need.

Here's a question for you, I have the elite which is using the Hitachi 079 drive.  What exactly do I need? JUST this mod? or this mod plus something else?

Also it states that it does not modify the hardware to play backups (directly?) which is fine, but does that mean that I can update the firmware and play my backups (indirect)?

Thanks for the help.

Just a kind reminder that the xbox-scene news page and the forums are separate entities and do not follow the same rules. We still do NOT permit asking for files/binaries here, as per the rules. And I don't want to hear any complaining about a double standard/"If they can ask for firmware dumps in a news post why can't I do it on the forums???" News page != forums. That is all; anyone else arguing the issue here will be handed a 3 day mute.

Yes; that's the idea.. the chip lets you enter modeb and flash your drive via conventional flashing methods.

Actully people with real skills have been able to flash the 79 for months now using external flashing techniques this is just for noobs.

Also keep in mind there is no ixtreme for 79 yet either that means the chip is going to have to be updated at some point too do xecuter have a software method via DVD for this? I dont think so

once again i bet this will be a little too late for the scene as no doubt within a few weeks the software flashing of 79's in windows using ft will be possible once the ixtremes are out and they have time to spend on it

Plse everyone note that this thread already required way too much Mod intervention and post removed. all post specific to this product , its feature... are welcomed. Any non-technical post about the role of Team Xecuter vs the scene will be sanctionned severely, everytime it seems to happen and it is not the role of this thread / Forum

you know that, or it is speculation. The last I read of maximus on that, it did not seems like it was to be expected soon.
So if it is something you know, plse share.

@Zell- , honestly I had to rewite my post because words were not adequate for a mod.
It is not a mod chip, just a tool to help you flash the firmware in the Drive (like a connectivity kit that bypass the special security of v79). It does not hold the xtreme/ixtreme fw but it needs to know where the key is and the structure of the key area!!!
As for your for comment on external flasher and noob, are you saying that it is better every time there will be an fw update to desolder /resolder your chip?? instead of simply using this to flash the drive. This is ridiculous (<-- here I changed the text). After 30 years of electronics and many of hacking on almost every console, I do not call that noob, I call that intelligent and practical. Anyone would prefer to update using this and toolbox than removing their chip time and time again.

actually ive perfected my method for flashing this drive and can easily remove the chip and reflash in about 15mins.

and the SST chips cost me about $5 each very cheap.

so yes I think its easier sorry

Regardless of others feelings towards the usefulness of this, I appreciate Team Xecuter's time and efforts for giving everyone a chance to enjoy the fruits of the modding community.

I'll be ordering one for my 079 as soon as they are available.  I'd rather run this than spoof firmware on a TS-H943.

Maybe slightly off-topic, but I'm asking it anyway (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have 2 360's with a H79 drive here, both are unflashed. Do I need 2 executer kits + mods or can I just buy one, flash the first 360, then remove the kit/mod and flash the other ?

Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Hahahaha wow...

Well bro you should be safe with just the one kit. Its not a permanant attachment just to be used during flashing. ....

just a quick question: will the 79 need this forever, like will this be the only way to get to flash the drive, or will later on just a flash do?

There is no way to tell. So far as we know this is the only option available for the near future.

I believe they still need one other revision of the firmware before they can start production.

Same here. But I have another question if someone can answer. I bought a Xbox elite last week with of course the 79 drive. I plan on buying the blaster360 along with this device, after I flash it with this device and install blaster360 will I be able to flash future firmwares with the blaster?

I would expect so, as this device sticks v79 in mode b. Then you can use your blaster for connectivity and to reflash..

Would be nice if it didn't need a solder or epoxy removal though.

Xecuter must have had a heart attack when they saw that video yesterday.

what is the recommended modified firmware for the v79FL drives, assuming we buy this "79 passkey" and install it properly and dump firmware via Toolbox v4.0?

is this the latest xtreme for the Hitachi 79FL drives?

will it work in 79FL?

So this requires Epoxy removal and soldering. Thats enough to scare the shit out of me.

I'll be passing on this device.

Tho im glad to see TX still bringing more of their unique creativity to the mod scene.

I hope theres another way to flash these 79 drives in the very near future, my Elite will collect dust until then.    (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
