* Commodore4Eva: Saturday night at midnight before Microsoft gets a chance to release theirsīŠ

Currently Version 5.3 of the Xtreme Firmware will only support the Samsung series of Xbox360 DVD drives. Though I am told other versions are currently underway, also beta testers have been testing this new version for a week now, and Im told they have a system where they test it and report any bugs before general distribution. So come release everything should be fine.

We also managed to get a little info on a few of the new features of the Xtreme firmware V5.3:
* Support added for DVD drive to Report as Hitachi 79
* Disc-Jitter added for Challenge Types 5/7 to avoid possible replay detection.

its amazing what the hacker comunity is doing to still keep a stranglehold on the only part of the xbox 360 whose security has been compromised.
still props to commodore4eva, if what he says is true,i hope he will also release a fix for hitachi drive owners, as soon as he can

When the updates come, its gonna be a sad day for everyone. The games of Cat and Mouse will begin and there will always be constant updating on both sides. If this happens, Microsoft will get the step advantage as they were nothing from before. They will be able to ban xbox live accounts that has used backups, and they probably will. We all knew this day was eventually going to happen, we all just wish it come later than sooner.

What does this mean to you?
1.Well for one the new xbox 360 games will require an update, so getting new games is going to be a hassle. So unplugging your connection is simply not a choice unless your fine with the games you have right now.  

2. Xbox Live accounts will be banned, because even if you get the modders firmware, you will (probably) have an update that kills off what the last firmware is going to do.

3. You will be constantly updating your machine, almost once a month or even sooner if they decide to start having updates come out sooner, or even unexpected.

4. The weight of the world will be on the hackers to keep their edge over Microsoft and they didn't get to be a billion dollar corporation for nothing.

Its a sad day when the updates start coming, especially if you sent your xbox to be modded and didnt mod it your self.

assumptions always get predicted and, in the end we dont really know untill it happens,
i for once dont care if they do that as i rarely use xbox live, the only reason that i modded my firmware was to be able to backup my only 2 games that i have, as for the other reason to mod it, its because i thought it was an educational experience. im sure if shit ever hits the fan people that were smart enough to backup there original firmware, will just revert back before going on to live, and keep going about with their lives.

i don't think microsoft do this,becouse microsoft know perfect the hacker community can hack this patch same as the firmware of psp story...
Or in alternative anyone can buy 2 360 and dedicated 1 to live and 1 at the modding and hacking...

j.allard speak of this 1year and half past,and tell microsoft know x360 is secure but not unakerable.

great work commodore.

MS will always lag the hackers by a good amount and so not too many should worry.

these posts seem very similar to the discussions around the bios development of the original xbox...

Im still in two worlds over this modification, yeah the modified firmware is great, I know 3-4 people who all owned Rainbow 6 Vegas on original and had there disc's split due to the "normal" usage in the xbox, but I also know people who have had there xbox's modded since and are running a backup copy and not had any problems what so ever, yeah piracy sucks, but microsoft make so much more out us of us via Live and "DLC", probably more than with genuine game sales, is it really worth it banning the people using backup's?

I hope so, but I sincerely doubt that the cat and mouse game is going to be over anytime soon. As far as myself repeating, those are my thoughts, and I did not look at anyones posts from last year while I was writing it. The firmware drive working with home brew is simply not true. As you need what is known as a Dev Kit to for the home brew. You also need the kernel earlier which most people at this point still do not have. I know my self dont have that old kernel. The drive it self can work with any firmware already given so you don't need the new firmware out later tonight is what im saying. So home brew to me is certainly not here yet, especially to what we are all looking for is to the broad public, not to those people who have thousands of dollars for a dev kit and tons of money just to waste. In fact its still no where near here yet. Were not even at a glimpse.

This update is going to kick ass. (For the new features it brings) Cant wait!!

But it does suck they are cracking down on firmware hacks.  Props to C4E dont know how you do it, but must take a lot of intelligence props to you man.   pop.gif

Some further info, the firmware should be available for all HItatchis including the 78 and 79, no software flash for 79 still as of yet. Watch out for C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth coming soon.

FOR CHRIST SAKE. whats up with the forums!

I have a hitachi 78FK with toolbox 3.0. Just got the dash update. everything went well. after, i disconnected from XBL, and popped in a backup. plays just fine. after that, i took out the disc and connected back to XBL. everything a-ok.

I havent tried playing online though. i aint that crazy.

i am gonna go play my newly downloaded double dragon though.

update away! just dont play online yet. hitachi people anyway.

Simply don't update if you want to be safe for 100%.Updating then disconnecting wont keep your ass safe.

as I told before, it was a big bluff from M$.

I've updated my hitachi dashboard and got no problems at all. I have hitachi LG with garyopa V2.3. and its working like a charm with the new dash.

if they can track it or not??!??! I dont really care  wink.gif
