Im trying to flash a hitachi 46. I cant seem to get it to show up in windows, ive tried every method to get mode b but it just freezes windows until i unhook the drive.
So i was wondering if there is a way to flash the hitachi drives in dos??? Doing the samsungs in dos seems pretty easy, so i was hoping there is a similiar way for the hitachi drives.
Thanks for the help.
Try ejecting the drive when windows is freezing.

Trust me ive tried, ive tried just about everything to get it to work.
Does anybody know if i could flash it using the same method as the samsungs but just using the correct firmware for a hitachi drive????

Ok the chipset im using is via6421a
My operating system is xp
Windows will freeze if i try the hotswap method when i connect the hitachi drive - it stays frozen until i unplug the drive.
If i use the two wire method or slax method for mode b, windows freezes while booting. I eject and close the drive a few times and it boots up. But once windows is loaded the drive is not there. My sata card at this point will have some type of error. It displays ! (exclamation) next to it in the devices page for my system.
I have also tried putting the drive in mode b, booting windows with the drive unplugged, then plugging it in once in windows. This still doesn't work. Windows freezes again if the drive is plugged in but unfreezes once the drive is unplugged.
This leads me to believe its a sata card problem, but the via6421a is supposed to work with the hitachi i thought. I know my card is installed properly because it works in windows and i have also flashed a few samsungs with it.
Thanks for the help trying to get this resolved....
