Here are some high-res pictures we received of the Xeno Top Gear - an addon that allows you to flash your Xbox360 ODD-Drive without re-opening your console again - more info if you missed the original announcement.

That's buisness for you. Becides, it's cheaper and has an extra HDD feature that blaster dosen't have, right?

But anyway, none of this stuff would be needed without the FREE work of true hackers anyway, so, yeah.

yes and no ... the idea is probably taken from Xecuter, however ... they have a different tech design approach.
Check out the manual posted on the original announcement: http://www.xbox-scen...lpVXtIXRKGo.php

It's a much simpler design (they use an SATA cable with 3 connectors) ... no Power Control Unit and Multiplex Switching Unit like the Blaster360.
I guess it has advantages (like: cheaper) and disadvantages (like: remove metallic cage, no mode-B switch).
However I can't really compare them until I have a sample of both (like: how do they compare if you try to use it for game ripping).

Like any of these "things" are even necessary!! This can be done at home with very little effort and time. Not as attractive of course but still with the parts you would need much cheaper and same result.

you forgot one disadvantage, you have to have the 360 on with this one where with the blaster you can just plug a molex connector in and have power to the drive

exactly, i recently did one of thease mods, verry simple; i took a dual external sata adaptor (about $15 shipped) and cut out 2 holes in the back of the cage and case and just hot glued them on there, then i used the original cable to bridge the sata ports for playing, all you had to do to flash is take out one side and hook it up to your computer

so total cost was $15 and about a hr of my time

verry nice design, would be better if they included a modeb switch on this one as well

not to mention that unless you actually have seen both of them, how would you know which one is better build quality?  Just because xecuter is charging more doesn't mean it's better quality.

In order for this device to be installed, you need to remove the metal cover from your 360, removing parts is reason enough for me not to buy this, but it's a protective part (both mechanically  and electrically). The final reason why this thing sucks is that in the process, you permanently alter your xbox, making it impossible for that part to be put back normally.

Reason enough for me to not buy this. I'd go for the blaster myself.

Here is the SATA mod tutorial I made forever and a day ago (long before either of these devices were even being made).  smile.gif
