i have an extra modded hitachi 47dj and a new samsung m25 is there away to just swap the drives instead of modding the samsung drive?

You have to have the correct "key" for the drive you're going to use. If the Sammy is the drive that came with the mobo, you'll need that get that key and patch/reflash the Hitachi with it.
