Title: After Firmware Update Can I Still Play Xbox Live?

I was reading this tutorial, http://sickmods.net/shared-directories/dea...firmware-flash/  and I think I can do it but what I am wondering before I do this is will I be able to play Xbox Live after I change the firmware? If I can do you think Microsoft could come out with an update to detect my modified firmware, thus banning me from live? Thanks.
