From Team Xecuter: Quote Here is the software flasher that also works with Hitachi 078 (use Slax(info) to get the drive into Modeb). UPDATE: The version we were given has code missing to flash the 078FK. The code for reading is correct (confirmed tested dump using X360 USB - MD5 100% compared with physical dump of the TSOP). We have been requested not to release any other versions and we respect the request of the Author. This will give you something to play with in the meantime. I have not had chance to test this with SATA yet. I believe Maximus will release his official version shortly - I think its a donate version so be sure to send him a donation for his efforts. Works with X360USB(buy now) and Sata. Credits to Maximus for the original app. Use at your own risk. Viva Xbox Sceners ! UPDATE1+3: The feature to flash the drive seems to have problems. According to info we received the hack to make it 'registered' seems to have messed up the loading of the vb form that does the flashing. fantastic news, now i read that someone said you need to use slax 2 to get to mode b and now i find that xbox360 usb works too, which sata adapter will work fine with slax 2? the via6421l chipset?  Thank you all who put in all this hard work.

after a quick test, this only will allow you to READ the drive key. This is not the full package!

Here is what maximus (carranzafp) has released on this tool (from another forum)

'BEFORE EVERYBODY SPREAD THE RUMOUR I MUST SAY THIS:

The real OFICIAL MAXIMUS software, not a modded and HALF-WORKING version like the team-xecuter have posted will be released soon.

I dont have anything more to say only that people wich kindly have donated and purchased my pre-release will be granted with beta pre-releases and with other goodies.

News in 16 hours'


You will just have to wait another day or so lads (unless TX rls addon) but it will be out in plenty time for you all to mod your systems

Let me reiterate the thanks from the previous thread for this app finally come to light for the 78.  I now see it is at the current moment only able to read the keys and not write them - ok so a few days to go.....

So to do the 78 update, does it just get ran in exactly the same way as I would do if I was to modify a normal hitachi drive, using x360USB and Slax cd?  or is there another step or 2 changed or involved?

ahah finally good thing i bought a MS28 drive 3 weeks ago! what a fucking waste of 260 bucks BAH ah well now i have 2 360's only one without a power supply

1st off, this give people the opportunity to swap drives if they want to.
2nd, he is probably making sure the flashing is 100% error free so newbs that use this wont brick their 0078 and bitch and moan, cause you know its going to happen.

Even if it can only read the key it is still a huge breakthrough.

How many people that bricked a drive would love to have thier key now so that they can replace their drive.


Can anyone else confirm this? This release doesnt flash?

ill have to check that right now (imout of the ofice atm) thanks for letting me know
