Title: How Do I Tell What Chipset?

Someone, Please explain how I can findout what chipset I have on my computer. I have tried the "Run" MSInfo32.exe and componants/storage/scsi deal and NOTHING comes up.
I have run the X360SAM0.6 and have gotten it to detect my drive. But it only gives me 2 options
1. Xtreme sec master
2. Xtreme sec slave.
then I choose one or the other and it says.
port 970, Master/slave:a0
And thats it.
First. How do I know what type of chipset I have?
2nd, How do I know that I have all my ide deals diabled?

plus why not just use xtreme bootmaker to make a modified mtkflash.

also what drive are your trying to flash???? this also makes a difference.

Sorry,
I am trying to flash a MS28. I am using xtreme bootmaker not XSAM360 (sorry)to make the boot disc on floppy.
I ran the sisoft Sandra program and the best thing I could see was that it said AsusTek Computer INC. Model: Nagami. And on the chip itself on the Mobo it says Nvidia NF-430-N-A2 GK7064-1.

Tell me if this is right. I boot the PC (w/floppy)and it says windows 98 and appears to be in DOS. Then it says A:/ or something similar. Then I turn on the xbox and after 3-5 seconds I type samread XXXXXXX XXXXX. Yes I do not type in X's I type in my actual serial number. then it says

This time it was different. It only gave me 1 option as opposed to the 2-3 I said in the other post. WTF?

^^^Or it says what I originally posted in my 1st post. depending on what SATA connector I plug it into...

open your computer case and look for a flat black square. it is about 1 inch by 1 inch and will say nvidia or via or intel on it or something else. that is your chipset there should be two of em. they may have some vents on the top as well just as a fyi

Yeah,
I found what I believe to be those chips on the MOBO and it said "Nvidia NF-430-N-A2 GK7064-1" And the smaller one says "ASUS A8000B-NW B0547-AK3610 8H1232050"

You need to buy a sata controller with chipset VT6421L or A.

well tell you what...

as the turorials say...

You will not be able to flash this drive UNLESS you have the SATA VIA 6421 chipset!!

Since you have a asus you will more than likely have ICH or nforce...

AGAIN if you want to flash this drive with these chipsets you will have to use the VCC method.!! (resistor removal)

If you want to flash this without soldering you will HAVE TO GET THE 6421 VIA SATA CARD and do the 10 second method or bad flash method.

you will continue to get these errors until you do this.

So in other words thats "a No a gooda chipseta?" Shitty. Well atleast Im not doing anything wrong. I think. I do have one of those controllers on the way. I cant frakkin wait.

and about the " No a gooda chipseta?" I have a asus p4p800se ICH5 (intel) chipset in which I can flash EVERY drive (except the 0078 of course), I can do the ms28 VCC method perfectly fine. But yes if you feel that you cannot do or you just do not want to do the vcc method, then by all means get the cheap card. But your chipset is fine if you use it like it is supposed to in these proceedures.

after reading your post again.. from what you have written it is impossible to say if you are doing the 10 second method... there IS a method to it... from what you have written it seems you are just doing the normal flash routine..except with a autoflasher type program...
I do not use x360sam I use normal mtkflash all by itself.. for you assuming you have nforce chipset on board.. you would have to use the modified mtkflash for YOUR chipset (found in some of these releases or usual places)

otherwise just wait for the card and use that in your flashing routines.

So just to make sure. This card will do?

I just noticed that the card doesnt have any connections for SATA on the outside of the card. Are those two black deals "On" the card itself where you connect?

Another thing. Can I put this card into my older NON-SATA computer? Will it work for that?

bummer. i could have bought that card tonite but i didn't see the via chipset written anywehre on it... cheaper than the 50 dollars i paid! Poop, I just started my mod tonite and had to buy another card as well but it worked like a charm!

yeah but i was excited to get things going!

either way it was 50 dollars well spent! 60 dollars for the orginals would suck if i scratch them beyond use!
